Any good places to find this...?

Okay, I'm not even sure this is the proper forum to post this in(I'm rarely sure, come to think of it...), but here goes...

We have three vehicles currently, only two of which are operable(One because we just GOT it, a 2002/3 Honda Odessy) - Two of them are Fords:

2001 Escort(That the dealership claimed was silver... It's taupe/brown. They're blind...)
1989 Ranger

This is about the Ranger. I'm determined that I want that truck whenever I can get around to getting a license, but here's a huge catch. We need to find it a new serpentine belt pulley before the current one goes. Ford no longer makes this part Our mechanic, awesome man, tried looking at the local junk yards to see if there was a Ford Ranger of... Any year, really, to replace it, but it's no dice. So my question is...

Anybody know where I could find it online? To show you how little I personally know, I don't even know if it's part of suspension or engine or what

I found this one on E-Bay, and it appears to be the only one on there at the moment.

Try searching the term through Google and see if you can find an aftermarket manufacturer.

"Serpentine belt pulley" could be any of the pulleys on the serpentine belt (crankshaft, A/C, alternator, power steering, etc.) - it's virtually unknown for them to wear out. If it's the one on the A/C compressor, Ford probably didn't make it in the first place - if the "we no longer have it" part number starts with "RD", it's made by a company called "Red Dot", which specializes in A/C systems.

Perhaps you meant the "serpentine belt tensioner" - it's an idler pulley (i.e. not connected to any piece of equipment) on a spring that keeps the belt under tension. It's the part most likely to wear out (either the bearing in the pulley, or the spring assembly).

Get the Ford part # from the dealer. It will help match up the third party parts.

I've had the best luck at Shucks for older vehicle parts. Without knowing what pulley you are looking for it's hard to narrow it down. Any of the big shops should have parts though, it's not a rare vehicle.

Oh man, I made this thread and then life ate me to the point I just remembered it *faint* Too many days running together...

"Serpentine Belt Pulley" is the exact term my mother passed to me from our mechanic, but between my job and her job I've had no time to actually ask her EXACTLY what the part is and what it's even FOR and the exact one we NEED. Hopefully I'll have time tomorrow(And remember to)!
