  • Saw one of "those" customers today

When a cashier has no customers, she/he is expected to trot over to a cashier who does and help bag the customer's stuff. I was doing that today. This particular customer was only buying ONE item.

Customer was asking Coworker something about price-matching, which we don't do. He said the item he was buying was available for less at Mega-Version-of-Our-Store..

CW advised him that we don't price-match, including with our various sister stores.IIRC, she did NOT advise him that even if we did, we would need more than a customer's word to do a price-match (we'd need a paper ad, or -- I think -- at the very least, an online ad).

Customer was annoyed. Cue the "What do you mean, you don't do this?" and "Well, that's just ridiculous", culminating with the ever-popular "Well, I guess I won't be coming back here anytime soon."

Customer didn't shout, or get rude or bitchy, but still ... yeah, our store will definitely go broke because you won't be ever be back to buy [one item].
