Not sure whether it's Apple, Microsoft, or me that has the stupidity problem in this case.
I have an XP desktop computer and an 8.1 laptop (laptop, affectionately known as Hannibal, is my primary computer, but the desktop, as yet unnamed, can be better for some things because of a larger monitor). I am trying to sync my iTunes between the two over our home network. So far as I can determine, the two machines can see each other, but I'm having no luck.
When I was using a Vista laptop (Dexter, retired over hardware issues), I used a surprisingly helpful Macro$loth utility called SyncToy, but according to the listed requirements, Win8 is not supported for this.
Suggestions? Please note that discarding Windows or iTunes is not an available option.
