Along the lines of Wagegoth's light suggestion earlier, we made our own rig when we had a horrible infestation two years ago. At night we put a table lamp in the middle of the floor of the otherwise darkened, carpeted room with a shallow bowl of water below it. In the water we put a few drops of dish detergent to break the surface tension of the water so the little buggers wouldn't float. The fleas went toward the light (table lamp was on), fell into the water and drowned. For well over a week it wasn't unusual to find over 50 fleas per night gone to their reward. We vacuumed at least once a day, treated the cats with Capstar, so the light wasn't the only remedy. But it did work.
