got me thinking... what is the worst song you're forced to listen to at work?

Mine changes with the season - for instance, for a while there it was "Muskrat Love," now it's: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZcZc-2LL8zU - hearing which was probably the first time I've ever felt sincerely compelled to call someone a douche.



... which honestly, I've been sitting there at work every day just GLAD I didn't know who was singing it just so I wouldn't feel *obligated* to punch anyone in the personal 'n' squooshy bits... but that's how much I love this site, I found it on *purpose* for your edification!



(I'm gonna say this is excluding the 7 months of Xmas music, since that's pretty much a gimme... and speaking of which, for a while when I worked in a bookstore I was able to substitute Windham Hill stuff you could barely tell was "seasonal" until someone caught on and they hid it all... )

I have to say Big Yellow Taxi covered by Counting crows (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YTC6m-a3U9w) is one of the worst I hear. Now take into account that it is all about how big companies are cutting down trees and putting up huge parking lots and stores.

Maybe they should add The Pretenders, My City was gone for good hypocritical measure.

I personally can't stand Macy Gray. Still, even songs I love get old pretty darn quick when you hear them every other hour for three weeks straight.

We must have had the soundtrack to "Mamma Mia" playing for 4 months straight. Drove me absolutely nuts. But some of my co-workers loved it!

I actually adore our new store music, as I don't hear it in my head while I sleep anymore. The crap that we had before Christmas was the same. damn. song, over and over again to the point where I believe customers went to the Big Wigs to complain about it. Either that, or the head honchos decided to stop making our ears bleed and got decent music

Well, we seem to use the same songs over and over again. To make it more bearable they just take some out of the rotation for a while, wait a few weeks put them back and take a few more out. Every once and a while we will get a decent song for a week or two. sadly right now the best of the worst is All American Rejects, Move Along.

Worst songs at the moment although I do have a guilty pleasure in singing/dancing along to the following.

-Bring It All Back by S Club 7.
-Stop by Spice Girls.
-whatever weird pop songs we have going.

Bear in mind this is bubblegum pop!

Although we do have Vanessa Amorosi's "Something Beautiful" playing which is always good

But the worst song is called "Caravan of Love" and I can't remember who sang it...

We don't have music in our office per se, everyone plays their own. But downstairs in our building lobby they play the most boring elevator music I've ever heard in my life. Ugh.

No music in the workplace (unless I'm listening to my own - as I'm lucky enough to be allowed to sometimes when I'm typing up my notes, and I'm not needed to take turns answering the phone).

But I spend a fiendish amount of time on hold ringing into call centres for customers I'm trying to help out.

The worst :

One of the energy companies has a small child lisping Its Not Easy Being Green over and over and over and over on a loop.

Avon - once called to discuss a customers debt with them. They play adverts constantly, this weird song-advert for perfume in a loop Does anyone buy perfume because they were forced to repeatedly listen to a song about it ?

The Tax Credits - actually I like theirs - I think they've employed a psychologist to choose them and it makes me laugh. The one that made me laugh out loud (kind of hard to explain to the customer) had a refrain about "and I'll try try try to be a better man". I'm sure that got their complaints down

The mainly managed separately other half of our own organisation - we don't have hold music. They apparently have someone play Chopsticks on a stylophone.

Why this song bugs me so much is that our new company policy is to be "True Blue" ((since blue is the Dress for Less color, and our dress code is now Blue Shirt and Black pants ONLY)) So we had the Training video... which was painful... and they played that song... it was awful... and now they play it about 3 times every hour... if not more.... Makes me want to shoot myself...><

According to Wikipedia........It was originally done by by Isley Jasper Isley in '85 as an RnB song and re done in '86 by The Housemartins as an a ccapella

I actually like this song. Well the harmonies at least...... The lyrics were a bit weird


Years ago I hated "Moondance" by Cat Stevens. Every day I had to call our courier and that was their hold song - just that one, over and over and over.........

I think that's by Van Morrison, whose mere existence is in blatant violation of the Geneva Conventions.

There ain't a song of his that doesn't make me stabby when I hear it.
