How can they ban you from every walmart in the country? How would they know?

That's what I keep wondering about. What's to stop someone who's been banned to simply change their appearance in a way that they can't be recognized?

That's a huge problem, and some do but if they are caught it's criminal trespass. They'll circulate information to other stores. Some just draw enough attention to themselves to be recognized, especially if management/lp circulate amongst the stores in the area and catch sight of them. Some of them are just so brazen they don't change anything at all, go back, and figure that either nobody will remember them, or it won't be any big deal if they are caught.

Depends on how seriously you want the person or persons you've banned to stay out.

In Vegas, for instance, many of the casinos actually run their security camera feeds through a computer with highly sophisticated facial recognition software that checks EVERY person entering the casino against a list of previously banned persons nd other people they consider undesirable (known cheaters, known card-counters, etc). In fact, if I remember correctly, they've actually got their own blacklist that gets circulated around to all the other casinos, so if you get banned because they think you're counting cards, then you may find that no other casino will let you in either, even if they aren't owned by the same people.

Now, I doubt that Wal-Mart would go to that extreme, but they could pull an image of her from the security footage and circulate that with a description and her MO and send that to all the stores.

Wow I get the feeling there's more to this story than we're told. Wal-Mart doesn't just ban people because a customer got into an argument with a manager....hm....

I'd be willing to bet she used the "s" word (Yes, you know the one, the ever popular sue), and management decided having an irate customer being permabanned would cost them less than a customer who may actually make good on a threat to sue. Because once she is banned, and it is not for being part of a protected class (bitchy couponer is not a protected class last I checked), then the store holds the trespassing card over her head.

She's complaining about price matching...can't she just find an ad for a store that sells an item for less and be happy that Walmart will match the price?

She's so poor yet she can afford an iPhone and the plan that goes with it?

I find it interesting the media didn't share the video.

Makes me think it did not show her in a good light.
You noticed that too. If she were truly the wrong customer that would be viral by now. More likely she was sucky about it. We can't know for sure as the video is unavailable.
I'm trying to see things from your point of view, but I can't get my head that far up my keister!

mm that's a good point. it may show her being a bitch.

so, talk about the tape, try to make walmart look bad... but then don't show the tape cos it may make people side with them against an entitlement whore.

actually i'm reminded of a stars & stripes headline from a few years ago - about how a woman was being charged with adultery in revenge for being a whistleblower. lots of drama about how it was all BS invented just to screw her over...

until the trial transcript went public, and it turned out she was already being investigated for adultery when she became a whistle-blower. and that it had basically had all been a publicity stunt to make herself look innocent.

Then this is part of a much bigger problem - people would rather spend that much $$$ on a phone and the plans it has to come with as opposed to, oh, say good food, saving up, building a restart.
