There are 12 troy ounces to a pound of gold.

So one pound of gold would be worth approximately $16081.20.

So...approximately 11.19 troy pounds, or 134.32 troy ounces of gold...in his ass...

OVER ELEVEN TROY POUNDS of gold...IN HIS ASS...

I guess you could say he stole a buttload of gold...

My understanding is that this wasn't a one-shot theft, but multiple thefts over time (clerk at his bank got suspicious about all the cheques he was depositing from a gold buying company). I suspect that he stole one lump at a time.
