  • Where do you think you are? Part II

So, for the new people playing, I work at <warehouse store>. If you mention this store to just about anyone in the US, they'll know immediately that we sell things in bulk. We're famous for it. And yet....

They're not SCs, so I'll refer to them as CL: Clueless.

CL1: "I don't need this much flour. Do you sell smaller bags?"

CL2: "Hmm...does anyone need this much paper in one box?"

CL3: "Sir! You're out of the small bag of fruit snacks. I only found the large box."
Me: (after checking with that section over the walkie) "That's all we sell."
CL3: "Really? That's crazy. You should sell the small ones." (walks off)

    CL4: "Wow! 15lbs?? That's a lot of meat!!"
Me: (thinking) That's what she said!

CL5: "I can't find anything we need. Everything has too much!"
I have a...thing. Wanna see it?

Damn! I can't wait till the Cosco opens up in town this fall. My parents had a longstanding membership to one of the other warehouse stores and they let it lapse in anticipation.
Meat for a couple months? I down for that. Enough toilet paper for months? I'm game.

I certainly don't go to a warehouse store and complain about the bulk...? Lol. I go specifically for the volume available for certain products ie. toilet paper, ground beef, chicken breast.

How can they not now that things are sold in huge sizes? They walk down every aisle and see everything is either ungodly sized multipack or a jumbo sized package. But no, they just must be all sold out of the small box of fruit snacks.

I only ever go there to buy stuff for the snack bar at work-a disadvantage to owning a truck i guess. for myself, i don't like bulk stores cuz I can never eat that much on my own.

still, being a bitchin bob because of that is stupid.

Many years ago I had the pleasure of working at Sam's Club.

Same situation on a daily basis.

One of the first blows to my faith in humanity cane when I had to explain to a person who this works.

Asked customer how much Toilet paper he buys per week at the grocery store. He buys and uses the majority of an 4-pack for his family.

Then explained that by buying the bulk pack he's getting enough TP for several months.

Further explained that by buying the mega-pack at Sam's, you were saving between 40 and 50% off of the smaller store packages. That you had a choice of buying "X" amount from the store over several months for a total cost of "Y" -or- buying the same amount at once and only spending "Y x 0.5".

Finally drove the point home by stating that this was how it works for everything here in the store.

His response? "Well that's pretty fucking stupid. Why the hell did I buy this membership for then?"

I bit my tongue to resist saying "I have no idea sir, I really don't."
I never lost my faith in humanity. Can't lose what you never had right?

I don't mind bulk. But I need variety. I still have snack bars from two months ago cause I'm so sick of them.

I have a membership at The Warehouse, partly because I do sometimes shop there even if it's not every week. Things like toliet paper, paper towels, and trash bags come great in bulk, even if it's just two people using it. Especally the trash bags, I STILL have a roll and a half left from last year -- it saves a lot.
Eh, one day I'll have something useful here. Until then, have a cookie or two.

It works out for me to buy a 24 pack of tp when it's on sale at the supermarket. Though I have a relative who bought car insurance at Cosco that was cheap; she had to have a Cosco membership though.
