    ... and the dollars were much bigger then too. $5 in gas for a round trip from Salt Lake to Blackfoot. I was so much older then, I'm younger than that now.

      My initial suspicion is that he had some unmarked counterfeit $100s he wanted to switch to so he could "change his mind" and get 20s instead.

        I mentioned the incident to a regular that comes in late at night, and he said the exact same thing. That seems like the most likely case.
