So marking large bills is apparently bad

So it's harder and harder to find a place that will take bills larger than $20.

When I were a microsys $500 and $1000 bills were in circulation... I saw them in use!

As the truckers can testify, nowadays a fillup of diesel can be over $1000.

... and the dollars were much bigger then too. $5 in gas for a round trip from Salt Lake to Blackfoot. I was so much older then, I'm younger than that now.

My initial suspicion is that he had some unmarked counterfeit $100s he wanted to switch to so he could "change his mind" and get 20s instead.

I mentioned the incident to a regular that comes in late at night, and he said the exact same thing. That seems like the most likely case.
