  • And it starts...

Yep, as predicted I just got off the phone with my mom.

Who of course every year about this time calls me in a panic about "Big Show is in 2 weeks, omgwtfbbq what are we doing!?!!"

And every year I tell her that the layout is finished, and I'm in the process of washing what feels like 500 million quilts and don't worry cause you're only doing a single display this year anyways, and if that's too much trouble I'll just fill the booth with quilts.

    Yeah fun times.

it honestly sounds like you have this under control and could do it without them?
i know that's a bad idea but why does she keep this pattern of behavior?
    many hugs and supports here.

For the most part I do manage the whole thing without them. However it's a 10' x20' booth so I do like having the help to set up (affectionatly called throwing quilts) and to run the booth.

I think she still calls freaking out because she's been doing this show for 25 years and she always calls me 2 weeks before freaking out. Even though last month we had a meeting where I handed out copies of the booth layout and gave them small assignments to do before the show.

My grandmother is going to sweet talk /bribe my uncle into letting us use our truck and trailer, and my mom has to design a 2' x 3 ' table display. The rest of the booth is my stuff and I'm getting that done currently.

I've been handling the brunt of the show for 5 years now, you think she'd relax a bit, but she still likes to pretend she's in charge.

Also I have booze for after the show, or possibly during.

ah then its become a routine to her i guess even after the fact that you gave them a layout and list of what needs doing etc.

I'm getting stressed out myself a little bit because I still have to photograph 20+ quilts and I can't while it's so windy outside.

not to steal the thread or be the only poster but...
breathe, it will get done. this too shall pass
easier said than done but it really does help if you can stop and just take a few deep breaths and take five minutes for yourself
