    Amina,

    You're doing well by him. Be proud of him, and of yourself.

    Regarding subjects that don't interest him: either find a way to make them interesting to him, or be prepared for him to do just enough to pass. Oh, sure, he has the potential to get straight As: but does he need to? Is it going to make a difference in his workplace that he got an A in history in grade 9?

    Let him be himself.

    I still have serious criticism issues because an A wasn't good enough - I should have been getting straight A+. Don't do that to him!

    1. Would you rather be right, or get the result you want?
    2. If you're consistently getting results you don't want, change what you do.
    3. Deal with the situation you have now, however it occurred.
    4. Accept the consequences of your decisions.

      Nifty! I'm glad the school's taking your concerns seriously, Amina. And good on you for helping the kid understamd why his classes are important for his future. I always had problems with that, myself.
