I work on the phones at one of the American catalog companies....think polo shirts and cardigan sweaters. Like many retail companies, much our selection is made overseas. I hear this complaint at least once a day...."why don't you have American made goods when we have so many unemployed people?" Blah, blah, blah. I always want to ask if they're willing to PAY for American made, but since calls do get recorded for QA purposes, I don't dare say it.
Well today, I got proof. We are slowly adding more American made items. Guy called in for some jeans. The foreign made were $50 and the American made were $94. Guess which ones he chose all the while complaining that everything we sell should be American made.
Nope. Our customers will whine about the the shirt made in China or Costa Rica, but they refuse to put their money where their mouth is.
