I also enjoyed the Anita Blake, vampire-hunter series before it devolved into pr0n.
I stumbled into it by finding the second book, The Laughing Corpse, misfiled in the local book store... under Humor! Admittedly, the description of the tailoring gymnastics present in the bridesmaid dress made to cover all of her work-related scars is hilarious!

I love the series. Ty for the early birthday wishes. MissyRed is the one that gave me the first book to read. I tried to read twilight and ended up throwing it across the room. Safe to say I'm not a fan, lol
