That's how many miles my car racked up, and then, it decided to eat it's timing chain.
For the non-automotive in the crowd, that's bad, but not as bad had it been a newer car with an interference engine. In that case, it would mean time to buy a new motor.
Fortunately for me, this car is old enough to vote and buy it's own ethanol , so all that did was just render it non-running, not trashed. And double-lucky, it did it IN THE DRIVEWAY, not out on the road.
But, now I think everything in that engine block is suspect, since it's busted three valve springs on me in the last 4 years. So what better time to rebuild it but now? Right?
Triple-lucky, rebuild kits are still available for the 301 Pontiac V8 (78' - 83')
I'm going to beat my personal record.
When I got home at 5:40 today, here's what I had

As of 20 minutes ago, here's what I have. About 1/3 of the way out of the car, only had to stop because I spilled antifreeze on the floor disconnecting the radiator, gotta let that dry.
