  • My first real yarn porn

Ok, yes, I drool. And make wishlists. But today I was searching for Artyarns Regal Silk (wanted to see what the ModeKnit corset was made in originally, why I didn't by that stuff, since it's cheaper, in the first place I don't know). And now I really really want some of that yarn. They have the BEST pictures.

And my yarn budget for the next while is shot - the silk I did get is on sale, so I can get the rest of what I need, I need to get sock yarn for DH's birthday, and I promised a friend a baby snuggler.

ETA: forget cheaper. It's only in 50g skeins. Get the Sara's yarn stuff instead.

*drooooool* *makes grabby motions* why must I be a broke college student? Between them and Handmaiden sea silk I'll never have money again!

Thank gods I spin my own alpaca or I'd be a gonner as far as yarn diets are concerned.

holy crap that yarn looks fantastic! and oh so soft and...

there's no yarn shop in my new town

i went looking for one so i could crochet a monkey for The Child, but alas...according to the GPS...there isn't one. 'cept for walmart and they only carry acrylics. i would buy online, but i like to feel it before i buy it so i know...well, what i feels like. looks like i'm gonna have to go to vegas to find a yarn shop. and that's 100 miles away!!

Green Fairy---I know shopping online isn't the same, but Jimmy Beans Wool has been nice to me and returns were pretty easy with them.

I highly recommend Sarah's Yarns. It's where I got my silk (dyed it myself, which is good enough for the corset) for half the price of the Artyarns stuff. The staff were really nice when my husband put the order through, and you can order online (I can't because I'm not in the States).

Curse you guys!! I am just starting to knit and crochet and so far loving it.

Of course I have set myself a lovely goal of 8 afgans by Christmas, made of 6x6 squares. Question, how big would a lap blanket be? I might be making these too big.

welcome to the world of fiber arts! it's a soft and fuzzy world ^_^
lap blankets are usually big enough to cover from the waist to the feet when sitting. so...what, 3 foot square? exact measurements don't really matter for something like that

P.S. i found the only yarn store in town. and it's the only yarn store for 70 miles ^_^ i's happy. ish.
