    My personal views on this

    1) Well i don't have a landline anyway so i'm not in the phone book

    2) Do No Call registry works great - including for cell phones and skype numbers. it takes up to 30 days for it to completely process however

    3) hang up. the only thing "ruining" the dinner is the fact that the person who answered the phone is having a hissy fit.

On a side note, last friday night i was playing a video game for a major event we had scheduled. and heard a knock at the door. thinking it was UPS i answered it and ... some guy was there to talk me into switching power companies.

    No.

I had to tell him no several times, but i left it at "No thank you I am happy with *company blah*." He was gone within a minute or so.

no need for me to be a raging bitch towards him... just polite but firm.

This reminds me of a funny Blondie comic I read where the family was having dinner and the phone rang. Dagwood picked it up and assumed it was a telemarketer and started yelling the usual telemarketer rants and such. To which the "telemarketer" replied, "Uh, does this mean I can't take your daughter to the movies?" Oops.

PS: If someone has a copy of that comic I'd sure appreciate it.
