  • What's the best television to buy for ps3?

I just bought my first playstation 3 (Along with GTA4 and Dragon Ball Blast 2. Couldn't find Batman game).

Now with the rest of my money, I want to buy a new tv. I've had the same tv since I was 12, and though it's served me well these pass 14 years, I just need a better tv these days.

So, what's the best possible tv I could get that goes great with a playstation 3? I don't know much of tech for electronics, so the whole 1080p or LDC versus plasma is so lost on me. I just want a great tv for gaming on and watching cable.

Any tips or advice? My pricerange is at most a $1000.

1080p - get at least 120Hz for a refresh rate. LED LCD TVs are nice but more expensive (I'd say it's worth it - the picture is a bit sharper and brighter).

We got a generic (Insignia) 32" LED LCD TV for our bedroom and love it.

Insignia 55" LED LCD TV, $1000:

    Sony makes great TVs, too: 40", 1080p, 120Hz, $900:

    Sony 32" 3D-TV - $900:

Of course if you listen to George Takei you can get the LG 42" LED-LCD TV for $1000:

plus they draw less power, check newegg and tiger direct-tiger direct has a Samsung 46" LED LCD for under $800-and Sony 3D tvs under $900
Honestly.... the image of that in my head made me go "AWESOME!"..... and then I remembered I am terribly strange.-Red dazes

Well I got my tv, and I like it so far. it makes GTA4 and DBZ look great. I'm so used to my old tv, and I just can't get my freaking cable to work on it now. Nothing works. It's annoying.

Was playing gta4, and it suddenly went black. It still played sound, but no graphics. Great.

I'm sorry, Plaid. Is it possibly something simple like a loose HDMI connection? I know the cable between my FiOS box & the TV is a little tempermental.

What did you wind up getting? If you have one convenient, I was going to suggest Costco. Bought a 47" Vizio LCD 1080p, 120Hz set last summer for under $700.

Which TV did you get and yes, it may just be a loose cable (hopefully).

I miss the old days, where are you had to do was plug the damn thing in, now you have to have it on the right companat, do an auto channel search and jump through loops and hoops. Oi.

                    But still happy now.
