  • excuse, me are you braindead?

I've been training the new entertainment specialist at work, we covered setting up the tuesday new release ad and left the ad and other paper work in neat stack at the electronics service center while we went back to get sign holders. we get back to find an SC using my prepped paper work as a peice of scratchpaper. as i confront him he is slipping the ad sign and my good pen in to his pocket. he ruined an ad sign when there was a pile of paper scratchpads 2 inches to the right of my neatly stacked ad.

what the heck was wrong with this idiot? does everyone, just take stuff off of a strangers desk even when it's oblivious that it's important?

I've noticed people do that ... they just don't pay attention.

      And, yes, he's a moron.

Did you get your good pen back? And the ad sign?

Especially when it's that important. Basically, from the sounds of it, this "SC" got his hands on the next set of sale ads at least one day early. That can be enough lead time for a competing store to get better sale prices out and improve their sales while ruining your store's.

I always carry a pen and slip of paper with me. It may seem odd to most people, but if I have the need to write something important down (a product I saw or a website/number/song/etc) I don't have to start asking the store employees for a pen or scrap of paper.

That guy was rude and moronic. I think he took that Ad on purpose and I hope you got your pen back!

That's what I was going to ask.

Once I was coming down from the offices where I had to print some stuff (future ales plans and plan-o-grams) off the intranet. Since this is on a secure, password protected, site it is confidential info. As I am walking back to my department a custoemr stops to ask me a question. She sees me holding the papers (folded in half so customers can not see them) and said "oh good scrap paper" and attempts to grab them. Well i pulled them away quickly and told her it is confidential company information, that she can not see. She called me rude and stomped off.

I had a bit of that today. What is it about a cart full of stuff that an employee is putting out that is so attractive to customers?

I once had a customer take all the boxes full of merchandise out of the cart I was using to carry them in put them in the middle of an aisle and take my cart for herself. I had only left the aisle to help a customer for a second.
wouldn't lube work better in a f***ing machine?

There used to be a manager who did that all the time! Important papers would go missing, and it would turn out that he was in the habit of just taking any random sheet of paper whenever he needed to write a note for whatever reason. He wouldn't even look at it to see if it was something someone would need. Even after we told him to stop, he kept doing it. Idiot.
                      "Wouldn't that be unethical?"

Obviously the dude was a rude inconsiderate whomp rat.

That being said, since we all know that SCs will take anything, write on anything, and use anything that isn't nailed down, I think this story in particular should serve as a warning to us all to not leave stuff out where they can see/grab them. Those papers should have been in a desk, under a counter, whatever would have worked in the OP's work place....but not left out for anyone to get at them.

Not, mind you, that I believe SCs are above rummaging in someone's private desk to get something they want, but let's not make it easy for them!

That happens to me ALL THE TIME. I used to have a nice brass holder on my desk containing some business cards the office provided me with to give to colleagues, vendors, etc. Right beside the container was a huge stack of scrap paper for notes. You can guess the percentage of people who would waste one of my business cards to jot down a note and ignore the scratch paper. I have since moved the container to an obscure portion of my work station to avoid losing any more cards to dillweeds.

Had a guy ask me for a pen after I gave him change for his hundred. He took the pen and WROTE on the new crisp twenty I gave him!!! I was furious. This causes problems because he just made another bill for someone to bitch about when it doesn't work in the machine. I did have post-its...
