  • Early Christmas present!

Just got a message from my state's unclaimed money office . . . Apparently I mislaid an insurance policy. THIRTY-FIVE YEARS AGO. And the state's been holding the resulting money for me ever since.

I may or may not have Unclaimed money, I've just never had much luck fighting the red tape back home to get it. My brother, on the other hand, said repeatedly that he HAD unclaimed money (at least, back in the 90's), but he obstinately refused to actually go and CLAIM it. Never got a good reason why not.

Here's a site, Eric. It will have links to your state's (and several province's) unclaimed property offices. Happy hunting.
I'm trying to see things from your point of view, but I can't get my head that far up my keister!

I had a former fellow student contact me once about locating "unclaimed" money. I have to admit I didn't follow it up. Despite the fact I had no reason to believe she was dishonest, it still sounded too much like a scam to me. (I'm in Canada, so the list taxguykarl gave won't show me much of anything. )

At one time my maternal grandparents had unclaimed money in a bank in Central Europe (I believe from the sale of some land) but, assuming that some other relatives haven't already found it, I can't imagine the records OR the money are still there. The Second World War kinda wrecked things out that way, in terms of record-keeping ...

In which province do you live, Pixelated? That site has links to British Columbia, Alberta, Quebec and New Brunswick. For the others, you'll probably have to take some time and patience with a search engine.

Just my luck, I live in Ontario ...

I don't expect to find anything but I'll look around anyway.
