I get lawsuit threats about a dozen times a week. Sadly when the customer has their Lawyer review the LEGALLY BINDING CONTRACT they signed with our company, there's not much that can be done.
It really does pay to READ those things people as most "I'm going to sue you!" threats I get are from people pissed off at some policy we have that is CLEARLY STATED in their contract.
My favourite line to use when taking Sup calls:
"If you will be pursuing legal action then I am no longer obligated to continue this call. You can contact our Legal department at XXX-XXX-XXXX, Thanks for calling <my company> and have a good day"
(this is true by the way, if someone threatens a lawsuit we are instructed to not say anything further and give them the number for Legal)
