Ahem. I contend that Brutal Legend is NOT cheating. Observe.
Rescue From The Sea of Tears
There's others I can't find at the moment..."The Chosen Roadie", "Pile of Skulls", "The Big Kiss"...the original music in that game is tremendous too."Maybe the problem just went away...maybe it was the magical sniper fairy that comes and gives silenced hollow point rounds to people who don't eat their vegetables."

I've got a certain fondness for the Morrowind music (as performed by orchestra here- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VG_fV0r4cX0).
On the other hand, Shadow of the Colossus had some beautiful orchestral pieces but I can't help but feel that they needed a touch of rock added.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W2Phd8Tl4VM Admittedly it's just as good in the original form.

And one more contribution, from Chrono Cross, Times Scar
Also, for those who play an instrument, ichigos.com (no www) has a TON of arrangements from video games and anime. It's not all from Japanese games either, they have Skyrim among others. The best professors are mad scientists! -Zoom

I absolutely adore the soundtrack to the Kingdom Hearts series. Among my faves:
End of the World (Desati)
Hollow Bastion
Riku's Theme
Roxas' Theme
Sacred Moon (The World That Never Was)
Final Fantasy VII had some good ones too (All hail Uematsu-san!):
Can You Hear the Cry of the Planet?
The Promised Land (Yeah, yeah. It's from Advent Children. So? )
Cosmo Canyon
And of course, One Winged Angel
Pay Your Respects from Arkham City is an amazingly beautiful piece as well. As is the night theme from Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess.I am no longer of capable of the emotion you humans call “compassion”. Though I can feign it in exchange for an hourly wage. (Gravekeeper)

It probably doesn't count, but...the music that plays in Skyrim whenever you get close to a Word.
I joke that whenever I heard "epic God of War music" that there's GOT to be a Word close by.

Forgot one.
Dragonborn from the Skyrim OST.
Hearing that theme cue up as a dragon swoops out of the sky, and doing epic battle while hearing "Dovahkiin, Dovahkiin, naal ok zin los vahriin, wah dein vokul mahfaeraak ahst vaal!" makes you feel so effing badass.PWNADE(TM) - Serve up a glass today! | PWNZER - An act of pwnage so awesome, it's like the victim got hit by a tank.

I think one of my favourite pieces has to be Melodies of Life for many reasons. I loved the song when I heard it and thought it was sweet.
Now I know the sentiment too well and I keep those memories of the melody that I sung with husband in my heart. As soon as I start thinking
That I'm sensible and sane
The Random Hedgehog comes along
And fiddles with my Brain

Quoth fireheart View PostMost people aren't aware that Shadow of the Colossus is sort of a sequel/prequel to Ico (I posted a song from there earlier). The whole thing has some damn good visuals though, it's almost like video game porn

Quoth Kal View PostThey're working on a film of it at the moment and I'm torn between wanting to see the colossi in a film and being certain that it would be a terrible, terrible film. I can't see any way that it would work and still stay close to the game. The Rich keep getting richer because they keep doing what it was that made them rich. Ditto the Poor.

Quoth Geek King View PostIt would depend a lot on the effects budget, and the studio who who CG the colossi. For example, no one would want to see it done on the average SyFy film budget, but a few collosus done up with the budget for FoTR's Balrog, or The Hobbit's Smaug...? <drool>

Freespace 2 has a lot of awesome music in it. Watch this mission and remember it was released over 10 years ago: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ct-0xn-_IjM

The rest of the OST from the series is amazing, but I can sit and listen to this one repeat over and over for hours and not get tired of it.

Since I started playing it again, I should mention Twilight Princess in general has some really amazing music.
One I forgot and I can't believe I did is Dark Beauty Castle from Epic Mickey. Incidentally, I had often wondered why there was always some kind of background music in video games and whether it was really necessary. And then there was a stage in Epic Mickey where they turned off the music. It was downright creepy. I kept waiting for something to jump out and eat me and the fact that nothing ever did made it worse.I am no longer of capable of the emotion you humans call “compassion”.
