  • Synergy setup... stuff... crap..

    I know someone, I think Geek King, mentioned Synergy for a multi-monitor setup. Well, I got the darn thing set up, the program recognizes itself on each computer, but I can't get the stupid mouse to span the screens.

    Anyone use this program or another FREE multi-monitor program and can PLEASE HELP!!!!!??

    Sure can. Each computer has a config file. Post the config file here. Also some sort of layout of the monitors, and which config file goes to which monitor. From there we can troubleshoot why it's not working.

    Before then, though, you do have synergy running on each computer, right?

      Okay, layout. Three monitors. From left to right, Monitors 1, 2, and 3. Currently, monitor 1 is connected to the Vista box. Monitor 3 is connected to the XP box. Monitor 2 is connected to the KVM. I can remove the KVM if needed.

      AH HA!

      Okay, the stupid Link thing!!

      I got it almost done now, and man is it spiffy!!

      The Visa box covers Monitor 1 and 2. That seems to be no problem. But now, when I got from monitor 2 to monitor 3, the cursor gets stuck on monitor 3. The only way I can get it back is by closing the test. Here's the config files. I'll have to do the second config file as an edit.

      section: screens
      JenniR:
      switchCorners = none +top-right +bottom-right
      switchCornerSize = 0
      JenniRVista:
      switchCorners = none +top-left +bottom-left
      switchCornerSize = 0
      end
      section: links
      JenniR:
      JenniRVista:
      right = JenniR
      end
      section: options
      end

      And, config file 2 coming up.

      section: screens
      JenniR:
      switchCorners = none +top-right +bottom-right
      switchCornerSize = 0
      end
      section: links
      JenniR:
      end
      section: options
      end

        Stupid question time, since I'm confused: You have three monitors, but only two computers? How's monitor 3 hooked up?

        Probably should have asked for monitor and computer layout. Sorry.

          Thus, when using the computer normally, Monitor 1 and 2 are connected to the Vista box. If this works right, I can disconnect the KVM.

            Mwahhahahhahahaha!

            This is why everyone needs to RTFM!

            I forgot to link the third monitor to the others.

            Basically, Vista sees the first two monitors as being the same monitor. Synergy knew that the third monitor was to the right of them. But once the cursor got over there, it didn't know where to go from there.

            A little RTFM, and everything WORKS!!!!!

                  From what I read, it seems that it's a common mistake.
