  • Great, an extra day off

I love PTO (Paid time-off), and this is the first job I have had that gave me any significant time off (3 weeks this year ).

Anyway, I went to work feeling fine, until I stood up. Suddenly, I felt cold, sweaty, and vision started to go dark. I sat down for a few minuets and felt well enough to get up and go back to work.

About 10 min later my supervisor came up to me and said "*Shop Forman* said you should go home if you are not feeling well". I do not like going home sick unless I HAVE too, so I said "I will see how I feel in an hour or so".

Supervisor sighed (knowing me too well), "That was not a suggestion. Your lips are white, and you are pale. *Shop Forman* saw you coming in, he told me to send you home sick."

I hate going home sick, But I love the fact that I can here. So this post is more of a praise of my company and bosses.

With the last job I had before this, calling in sick was a minor form of treason with a doctors note.
I might be crazy, but I'm not Insane.

What? You don't play with flamethrowers on the weekends? You are strange.

Given that you have a rep for not going home sick, you've probably scored points with them.

Meaning, they know if you're too sick to work, you'll STILL show up and give them enough evidence to say, ''Oh my god, go home.''

I've had that happen on occasion -- I would have preferred that it happen at a place where I had PTO, but still -- it was nice to have that good rep, tho.

Tama's right about that--at worst the higher ups will watch so that you don't spread the next illness you catch.
I'm trying to see things from your point of view, but I can't get my head that far up my keister!

Indeed. I've always figured that some people go by "is this guy to sick to work/could he infect others?", while some will go by "is it bad enough that customers will complain?" -- If it's always the latter, well, don't eat there if it's a restaurant of any stripe ~_~
