  • Not so sucky

So I worked a 5-1 shift tonight and normally when I work 5-1, I get a break around 9 or 9:30. At around 9:05 a customer comes up to my register with TWO carts FULL of groceries. I called a bagger over before I even thought of starting.

Before I could even start ringing the groceries up, my CSM came over and said she'd take over and wanted me to take my break. So I thought "cool break time and no big order to scan through"

I come back from break 30 minutes later and my CSM told me that the order ended up being over $700 and she and the bagger were tipped $20 each. My CSM said she tried to decline the tip, but the lady with all the groceries said that every time she comes in, we're always really good with her and her groceries.

I told my CSM that I hated her for the rest of the night because she took what could've possibly been my $20 tip.

*PS: feel free to move this if it's not appropriate here*

This is a major reason my store doesn't allow tipping, and actually will fire anyone who accepts a tip. Because the wrong person might get tipped, or injustices like this could occur.

I won't say you should ask for a kickback, but you're in a position to do so. (Just don't try too hard and get fired.)
Why do they make Superglue but not Batglue?

If the CSM really felt that bad about it, she could have given the tip to you >_>

At BoutiqueGrocery, baggers were not allowed to accept tips because Mansgement was afraid that they would badger customers for tips.
