    Sadly, that same thing would probably happen where I work. Everyone's so afraid of standing up for themselves and ruining the image of "great customer service" that they'd automatically side with the customer, no questions asked.
    I know it would happen at my store (there are a few CSDH's who will tell the unreasonable morons to go to hell, but only if certain higher-ups are not there). There are a few 'customers' who legitimately scare some of the staff (I was cornered by one last night; I think he's gonna try to return a month-old package of meat and wants me to help him get a refund )
