Just to clarify guys, it is not illegal to shut utilities off in Utah during the winter. Lots of people claim that, and lots of people think that if there's a person under a certain age, we can't do it, but that's not the case. If people use having kids as an excuse not to pay the bills, well what's to stop everyone from claiming they have kids? We provide so many options and notices before we shut off gas, the customer has plenty of time to prioritize and gets things figured out before we actually do it. All that lady had to do was tell me when she was making that payment and I'd set it up (which is what I did).

Gee, what did people do before electricity and gas utilities?
Everything will be ok in the end. If it's not ok, it's not the end.

Their choices were freeze to death, or build a fire and burn to death.

In either case, nothing of value was lost.

Complain about how hard it is to get firewood and lamp oil.
