This actually happened several years ago, but I never got to vent about it. And I"m sure it still happens there all the time.
Background: I used to work at a go-kart track. There are 3 separate tracks (not counting the Kiddie track). Two are for anyone of the correct height, which is about 1 foot difference, just so the older kids aren't in danger on the faster one. Then there's the Adult Track, which requires a Driver's License.
One fine spring day, I'm working at a register selling tickets to the go-karts and other rides. This disgruntled SC shows up demanding to know why her son can't go on the Adult Track. I ask if he has a driver's license. No, but he has a permit. Well, sorry, but you have to have the actual license. She starts getting angry, saying she had called and someone told her he could use his permit. I apologize that she was misinformed, but mention there are two OTHER tracks he can drive on. Nope, not good enough. She starts demanding a refund. Well, okay. I get the manager, she whines at him for a while. I forget if she got her refund, but probably did. It was a slow day, anyway, so she wasn't holding up a line.
Of course, through the Hindsight Glasses, I'm thinking she made up the story, hoping that if she claimed to have been told otherwise, they'd just let her kid drive anyway. Yeah... no. Not our policy, and we explain that VERY clearly when someone asks about the rides.
