    My Old Thread

So I'm a fan of pro wrestling, as many on the boards may be aware, but I draw almost more entertainment these days from independent sources as from WWE, and chief among them is Chikara Pro, the fun-filled lucha party, which returned from a year-long self-imposed hiatus in 2014 and has been making waves along the way.

Combining wrestling styles from all over the world in a family-friendly atmosphere and with storylines taking inspiration from comic books, Chikara Pro is unique and expanding its touring radius. My previous thread was getting long in the tooth and I figure it best to start fresh.

    Major Championships & Awards
The Campeonatos de Parejas are Chikara's tag-team championship. The tag division in Chikara is governed by a simple points system. When a team scores a fall (via pinning, submitting, or DQ), they earn a point. When a team earns three points, they may challenge for the titles. If a team loses a fall, they lose all their points and must start over. All matches for the Campeonatos de Parejas are contested under 2-of-3 falls rules. There have been exceptions to both the points system and the 2-of-3 falls rules, but both were under exceptional circumstances. (F.I.S.T.'s Icarus & Gran Akuma were allowed to bypass the points system for their ex-champions rematch against Incoherence, because Icarus was not involved in the match in which they lost the titles. And the Colony's Fire Ant & Soldier Ant were allowed to challenge the Osirian Portal in a one-fall match because they had earned an unprecedented seven points before being able to challenge for the titles.) Currently, the Campeones de Parejas are The Devastation Corporation's Max Smashmaster & Blaster McMassive, who defeated The Throwbacks (Dasher Hatfield & Mr. Touchdown) on Dec. 6, 2014.
[Previous CdP Holders: Kings of Wrestling (Chris Hero & Claudio Castagnoli) (2 defenses), F.I.S.T. (Icarus & Gran Akuma) (3 defenses), Incoherence (Hallowicked & Delirious) (5 defenses), Super Smash Bros. (Player Uno & Player Dos) (0 defenses), The Osirian Portal (Amasis & Ophidian) (3 defenses), The Colony (Fire Ant & Soldier Ant) (4 defenses), Bruderschaft des Kreuzes (Claudio Castagnoli & Ares) (4 defenses), Mike Quackenbush & Jigsaw (2 defenses), F.I.S.T. (Chuck Taylor & Johnny Gargano) (4 defenses), 3.0 (Shane Matthews & Scott 'Jagged' Parker) (0 defenses), F.I.S.T. (Chuck Taylor & Johnny Gargano) (2nd reign) (0 defenses), The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson) (3 defenses), 3.0 (2nd reign) (2 defenses), Pieces of Hate (Jigsaw & The Shard) (0 defenses), The Throwbacks (Dasher Hatfield & Mr. Touchdown) (1 defense)]

The Young Lions Cup is one of two singles championships in Chikara, but not just anyone is allowed to challenge for the Cup. Only wrestlers who are 25 or younger, and who have not held the Cup previously, may challenge for the Cup. Once a year, Chikara hosts the Young Lions Cup tournament, in which young wrestlers from across the globe compete to win the Cup. When the tournament begins, the previous Cupholder relinquishes the title (though they get to keep the trophy). The Young Lions Cup XI tournament was hosted by Wrestling Is Fun and was won by Heidi Lovelace, who won the Cup on Dec. 6, 2014.
[Previous YLC Holders: YLC I - Hallowicked (4 defenses); YLC II - Larry Sweeney (0 defenses), Jigsaw (4 defenses); YLC III - Shane Storm (2 defenses); YLC IV - Arik Cannon (4 defenses), Maxime Boyer (5 defenses); YLC V - Chuck Taylor (2 defenses), Helios (3 defenses); YLC VI - Fire Ant (0 defenses), Vin Gerard (4 defenses), Jimmy 'Equinox' Olsen (2 defenses); YLC VII - Player Dos (2 defenses), Tim Donst (4 defenses); YLC VIII - Frightmare (7 defenses); YLC IX - Tadasuke (2 defenses); YLC X - 'Mr. Touchdown' Mark Angelosetti (6 defenses)]

The Grand Championship of Chikara is the other major singles championship in Chikara, and as of May 2014, it has a points system identical to the Campeonatos' system, however, only one-on-one matches count for points. Once a competitor has three points, they may challenge for the championship. The Grand Championship was awarded to the winner of the "12 Large: Summit" round robin tournament, named in honor of the late Alex "Larry Sweeney" Whybrow. Currently, the Grand Championship is held by Icarus, who defeated Eddie Kingston at "You Only Live Twice" on May 25, 2014.
[Previous Grand Champions: Eddie Kingston (14 defenses)]

The King of Trios tournament is Chikara's biggest event of the year, known for bringing in world-renowned talent for special appearances in a three-night extravaganza. The tournament is made up of 16 trios, three-wrestler teams, in single-elimination competition. In addition to trios action, KOT weekends will often see major singles matches, and the annual Tag Team Gauntlet. There's a frequent running gag that every year's King of Trios will be the "last one ever." The King of Trios 2014 tournament was won by The Devastation Corporation (Max Smashmaster, Blaster McMassive, Flex Rumblecrunch), who defeated the Golden Trio (Icarus, Dasher Hatfield, Mr. Touchdown) in the finals on September 21, 2014.
[Previous KOT Winners: 2007 - Mike Quackenbush, Jigsaw, Shane Storm; 2008 - Los Luchadores de Mexico (El Pantera, Incognito, Lince Dorado); 2009 - F.I.S.T. (Icarus, Gran Akuma, Chuck Taylor); 2010 - Bruderschaft des Kreuzes (Claudio Castagnoli, Ares, Tursas); 2011 - The Colony (Fire Ant, Soldier Ant, Green Ant); 2012 - The Spectral Envoy (UltraMantis Black, Hallowicked, Frightmare)]

The Torneo Cibernetico is another annual attraction for Chikara. A huge 16-man tag match, each team is comprised of eight wrestlers, captained by one wrestler each, wrestling in an elimination fashion until one wrestler is left. If one team is completely eliminated before the other, the remaining wrestlers on the surviving team will face one another until only one is left. In addition, there is a "batting order" to the teams, so Wrestler 1 can only tag out to Wrestler 2, who can only tag out to Wrestler 3, and so on. If a wrestler is eliminated, the wrestlers behind him in the batting order move up. The Cibernetico can be quite a long match. The 10th Torneo Cibernetico was held on Dec. 6, 2014, and was won by Soldier Ant, who last eliminated Fire Ant.
    [Previous Cibernetico Winners: 2004 - Jigsaw; 2005 - Gran Akuma; 2006 - Icarus; 2007 - Claudio Castagnoli; 2008 - Jimmy "Equinox" Olsen; 2009 - Carpenter Ant; 2010 - Eddie Kingston; 2011 - Sara Del Rey; 2012 - Tim Donst]

    Chikara Roster Info - 2015

Icarus is one of the "Gen-1 Originals," one of the members of the original graduating class of the Wrestle Factory. Over the years, he became one of the most hated members of the roster, as the nominal leader of the faction F.I.S.T., taking pride in his duplicitous nature and underhanded tactics, not to mention his hideous back tattoo. In 2013, however, he showed signs of change by attempting to make the best of the forced membership of Sugar Dunkerton in F.I.S.T. When Dunkerton quit and F.I.S.T. began to dissolve, Icarus reached out to his childhood idol, Marty Jannetty, for guidance leading up to a Grand Championship title shot. When Chikara was shut down in 2013, Icarus refused to let it die. He began drumming up grass-roots support with the fans, reaching out to anyone that would return his calls, trying to rally people behind him, especially when The Flood began to try to stamp out the remnants. His gambit paid off, and the Chikara roster stood up against The Flood at National Pro Wrestling Day 2014, and Chikara rose from the ashes on May 25th, 2014, culminating with Icarus' final redemption by defeating Eddie Kingston to claim the Grand Championship of Chikara. Since then, he's the one people are starting to look to for leadership against the threat of The Flood. (Trademark Moves: Blu-Ray, Pedigree, Shiranui, Blu-Ray, Chikara Special)

The Throwbacks are Dasher Hatfield and his step-cousin-in-law 'Mr. Touchdown' Mark Angelosetti. Their partnership began as one of duty-- Dasher feeling obligated to help his family-- and then became one of tension-- as Mr. TD's cheating tactics clashed with Dasher's sensibilities-- and finally became one of trust-- as the two fought and worked out their differences to forge a new bond together. Dasher is the 'Old Timey King of Swing,' a gentleman sportsman all about fair play and having a good time. Touchdown is a nerd-hating football prodigy, the 'Gridiron Grappler,' and has cleaned up his act in the last year. They quickly became the team to beat in 2014, quickly amassing points to claim the Campeonatos de Parejas. (Trademark Moves: (team) Bo Jackson, 3-D, (Dasher) Suicide Squeeze, Grand Slam, (Touchdown) Flea Flicker, Spinebuster)

Eddie Kingston, styled 'The War King' (or more recently, the 'Mad King'), is a dangerous man. The bitter street brawler has been a rudo to the core for years, refusing to do anything to please the fans and out solely for his own gratification. He was, however, Chikara to the core, and turned tecnico solely to combat the threat of the BDK in 2009. In 2012, he warred his way through the "12 Large: Summit" in memory of his fallen friend Alex "Larry Sweeney" Whybrow, becoming the first-ever Grand Champion of Chikara, and defending the title against all comers. In time, however, something changed, perhaps because of the stress he was under from serious health issues (knee problems), perhaps because of his butting heads with then-Director of Fun Wink Vavasseur, but Kingston became more bitter and even more ruthless, and swore he wouldn't let anyone take "her" (the title) away from him. When Chikara folded in 2013, Kingston notably refused to help Icarus, and even after the company's resurrection, Kingston is solely concerned with "her," and now with getting "her" back since Icarus won the title from him on May 25th, 2014. To that end, it appears Jimmy Jacobs was able to convince Kingston to join The Flood by taking out and replacing one of his plague doctor acolytes. However, Icarus told Kingston that 'she' would be worthless if there was no Chikara, and convinced him to change back to the side of Chikara. (Trademark Moves: Backfist to the Future, Sliding D, Backdrop Driver)

The Colony is one of the premier tecnico factions in Chikara. The current members are Fire Ant, Silver Ant, and Worker Ant. Fire Ant, referred to as Chikara's "Hottest Property," is an energetic and occasionally high-flying grappler, and a former Young Lions Cup champion. Silver Ant, formerly known as Green Ant, is the main spokesman for the group, a notoriously resilient and accomplished submissions wrestler. Silver Ant once broke his arm in a match and refused to quit, and has even made Mike Quackenbush tap out. Worker Ant is actually the second man to wear the mask, formerly known as AssailANT, who turned against his former Swarm brethren to defend Chikara, seeking to become a better man so his son could be proud of him. Worker Ant is a boisterous bruiser and won't stop until the job's done. The Colony has a fourth member, Soldier Ant, who was forced to join the villainous Swarm group, and was later left out in the cold when the Swarm fell apart and the Colony accepted Worker Ant and ignored him. (More about Soldier Ant in The Flood section.) (Trademark Moves: (team) Ant Hill, Ants Go Marching, Ant-a-pult, (Fire) Beach Break, Burning Down The House, (Silver) Chikara Special: Green, Cloverleaf, (Worker) Pumphandle GTS, Chikara Special: Blue)

UltraMantis Black is one of the other "Gen-1 Originals," and remains a fan-favorite despite his long history of megalomaniacal ambitions. The Great & Devious One-- also a heavy-metal musician signed to Relapse Records-- tried for years to take over Chikara, but his schemes never paid off, and have come back to haunt him in recent years. His usage of the mystical Eye of Tyr kicked off the invasion of the BDK, and subsequently the creation of a nemesis in Delirious. At present, he is a man without active support, as his long-time friend Hallowicked has turned on him and broken up the Spectral Envoy. In times of great need, however, he can call on the aid of his loyal follower Crossbones. (Trademark Moves: Cosmic Doom, Preying Mantis Bomb)

Hallowicked is another "Gen-1 Original," styled the 'Nightmare Warrior.' For years, he had been partners with UltraMantis Black, before forging a new team and turning tecnico by teaming with Delirious. This team was shattered when Mantis used the Eye of Tyr to enthrall Delirious to his will, but the two later mended fences when 'Wicked sided with Mantis against the BDK and then against other invading forces. Accompanied by the 'Frenetic Ball of Kinetic Energy' Frightmare, they have recently been turned against Mantis by the power of the Eye of Tyr. His loyalties have now been twisted and he and Frightmare now serve an enigmatic new master, Naz Maldun, the Cannibal Prince, the Eater, the Lord of Rot. (Trademark Moves: (team) Headless Horseman, (Wicked) Go To Sleepy Hollow, Yakuza Kick, (Frightmare) Kneecolepsy, Crucifix Bomb)

The Osirian Portal are a popular tag-team consisting of Amasis & Ophidian. Hailing from ancient Egypt and arriving in modern times via the titular time-traveling portal, the duo have long since dropped their nefarious tactics to become fan favorites. Amasis, formerly the 'Funky Pharaoh,' has returned from a debilitating car accident to become the seasoned 'Madjai of the Deities,' while Ophidian has gone through his own metamorphoses. Ophidian, the 'Serpent from the Nile,' once betrayed Amasis and began down a darker path, changing up his style to include an almost martial-arts-style striking game, before Amasis returned to seek his vengeance. After being vanquished by the Madjai, Ophidian was purged of his darker nature and has rejoined his old partner in battle. (Trademark Moves: (team) Hypnosis, Osirian Sacrament, (Amasis) Discus Forearm, 450 Splash, (Ophidian) Cobra Clutch Death Grip, Egyptian Destroyer)

The Batiri are a team of demonic warriors trained by 'Kizarny' Sinn Bodhi. Vile and villainous, what they lack of words they make up for with savagery. Obariyon & Kodama are face-painted demons from the underworld. There is no limit to their depravity or sick minds, and they take evil pride in the lines they cross. They are, however, Chikara to the core now, since Sinn Bodhi's allegiance to The Flood came to light and after he snubbed their attempts at reforging their alliance. That the Flood also destroyed their ally Kobald has not been forgotten or forgiven either. (Trademark Moves: (team) Skull Bronzing, Seventh Circle, (Obariyon) Go To Hell, Rapture, (Kodama) Diving neckbreaker, Inverted Death Valley Driver)

Chuck Taylor, the self-styled "Kentucky Gentleman," is a rudo par excellence. Once a member of the F.I.S.T. faction, 'Chuckie T' is a very accomplished singles competitor in his own right. A former Young Lions Cup champion, two-time Campeon de Parejas (with Johnny Gargano), King of Trios champion (with Icarus & Gran Akuma in F.I.S.T.), and Rey de Voladores champion, Taylor is never one to be underestimated. The child-hating rudo will stop at nothing to pick up a win, and when outside Chikara, is definitely not family-friendly. (His webshow, 'The Gentleman's Club,' is definitely NSFW for language alone.) (Trademark Moves: Awful Waffle/Omega Driver, Cross Crab, Sole Food)

Shynron is a new arrival to the Chikara universe. The high-flying "Spirit Dragon" is capable of pulling off jaw-dropping aerial moves, laughing in the face of the laws of physics. A clear fan of anime such as Dragonball Z, Shynron is quickly amassing a following and becoming a wrestler to watch. He won the 2014 Rey de Voladores ("King of Flyers") tournament. (Trademark Moves: Backflip cutter, 630 senton, 450 Splash, King Kai Clutch)

Juan Francisco de Coronado debuted in Chikara in 2014, but has been active in the Wrestling Is companies for the year prior. The arrogant Ecuadorian aristocrat, formerly known as Johnny Ego, considers himself above everyone and takes any evidence to the contrary as a personal insult. Formerly assisted and accompanied by his manservant, Herbert, "JFDC" frequently takes several minutes to even come to the ring to the theme from the movie "Titanic," and has inspired such levels of hatred that when he speaks, he cannot be heard over the boos. Despite his diminutive size, Coronado is surprisingly strong and is a submissions expert as well. One underestimates the braggadocio at one's own peril. (Trademark Moves: Coronado Clutch, German Suplex, Tiger Driver)

The Bloc Party is a group of Eastern European wrestlers stuck here in America due to travel document issues, unable to return home. First is The Proletariat Boar of Moldova, a looming, silent pig-man that brings dominating power. Next is Mr. Azerbaijan, an equally silent grappler from the coal mines of Azerbaijan, where he's been the recipient of the 'Azerbaijan's Sexiest Man' title for several years running. (Except in 2002, when the coal miners' strike cancelled the competition.) The third active member is Prakash Sabar, a Pakistani expatriate now living in Georgia, who has evidently modeled himself and his style off of Sean 'X-Pac' Waltman. (Hence Sabar's fan-imposed nickname of 'X-Pakistani'.) (Trademark Moves: (Boar) Boar Gore, Baconator, (Azerbaijan) Pump Handle Slam, Eastern European Suplex (Sabar) Islama-smash, Bronco Buster)

Ashley Remington, aka "Smooth Sailin'" Ashley Remington, is the former Dalton Castle of the Northeastern indies. After his uncle Lester "Darkness" Crabtree fell at the hands of The Flood, he came into a sizable inheritance, with the expectation that he would use the money to live in an appropriate lifestyle. He took it to heart, rechristening himself Ashley Remington and becoming a yacht enthusiast. Accompanied to the ring on the arms of two lovely ladies, wowing and wooing fans with his smooth style and gentlemanly behavior, Remington is a sporting competitor, and will give his opponents a complimentary basket of fruit after their matches. (Trademark Moves: Anchors Aweigh, Fair Winds)

Princess Kimberlee - A woman of regal bearing and indomitable heart, Kimberlee has not always been the cleanest of wrestlers, using cheating tactics and duplicity to try to gain advantages. However, in recent times, she's put these aside to fight with all the heart she can give, and never backs down from a challenge. (Trademark Moves: ...)

Kevin Condron is the former Kid Cyclone. A rookie from the Wrestle Factory, his hotheaded and impatient nature very quickly landed him in trouble when he tried to call out and attack Deucalion, and only succeeded in getting his friends destroyed at the monster's hand. Driven mad by the trauma and seething with perceived injustices, he unmasked and declared he was going to right wrongs, but warned his followers that he would spend them, eat their flesh in starving times, and break their heart. (Trademark Moves: Spinebusta Rhymes, The Twister)

N_R_G - This rookie tag-team, Hype Rockwell & 'The Generator' Race Jaxon, are a high energy tag-team looking to make a name for themselves. Jaxon is always full of energy, while Hype is usually tired from having to drive all night. (Trademark Moves: (team) ??, (Hype) wind-up backbreaker, (Jaxon) ??)

Argus - The gecko-roman grappler is another part of the 2014 rookie class, and is fairly enigmatic. He says little, if anything, and he frequently makes gestures to indicate that he is "watching." What he is looking to see, remains to be seen. (Trademark Moves: Frog Splash)

The Colony: XTREME Force are a trio of blatant cheap knock-offs of The Colony. Originally brought in by then-Director of Fun Wink Vavasseur to cash in on the Colony's popularity and to give a displaced Soldier Ant a group to lead, the CXF were more concerned with their own imagined magnificence than listening to Soldier Ant's orders, prompting him to quit in disgust. The trio consists of Arctic Rescue Ant, Orbit Adventure Ant, and Missile Assault Ant, who all come complete with their own plastic accessories. Despite their seeming inexperience, they've proven surprisingly ring-savvy. Wink has since admitted that they were trained by the Titor Conglomerate and/or Condor Security, suggesting there is far more to these three than meets the eye. (Trademark Moves: (Arctic) Diving Legdrop, (Orbit) Crucifix Powerbomb, (Missile) Missile Launcher)

Die Bruderschaft des Kreuzes (BDK) was a faction that once took over Chikara. Formerly masterminded and bankrolled by the Swiss wrestler Ares, the faction invaded at the end of 2008 and ran Chikara throughout 2009 with their own figurehead Director of Fun and dominating force. The group has dwindled since then, and has come under new leadership by Jakob Hammermeier, but that doesn't make them any less dangerous. Backing Jakob is the Norwegian monster Nøkken. Jakob has also revealed that a returning Pinkie Sanchez has rejoined the group. (Trademark Moves: (Jakob) Guten Nacht, KO Punch, (Nøkken) Nøkken Bomb, (Sanchez) Burning Snicklefritz)

The Wrecking Crew, managed by Sidney Bakabella, is a group of mercenaries that work for whomever pays the best, and right now, that's The Flood. Bakabella, an 80s-era throwback (to such an extent that he often fails to realize what year it actually is), runs his Crew with a sharp ruthlessness. The Crew is centered around the Devastation Corporation, three face-painted behemoths that thrive on destruction: Max Smashmaster, Blaster McMassive, and Flex Rumblecrunch. Rounding out the crew are the savage Jaka and the barbarian warlord Oleg the Usurper. Jaka, for all his feral savagery, is surprisingly devious and has a steel-like skull. Oleg, while he may be sometimes foolish-seeming, combines speed with power to devastating effect, and is reviled as the "Dragon Dragon Slayer" for decapitating the beloved Dragon Dragon. (Trademark Moves: (Dev Corp) Death Blow, Master Blaster, (Max) Gorilla Press, Clothesline, (Blaster) Lariat Tubman, Side Slam, (Flex) Ropewalk Shoulder Block, Big Boot, (Jaka) Diving Headbutt, Throat Jab, (Oleg) Off With His Head!, Corner Avalanche)

Soldier Ant is a now former member of The Colony, where he'd been happy to be a part of the group. Then, under the administration of Wink Vavasseur, Soldier Ant was forced to join the evil Swarm faction of Ants, where he behaved like a prisoner of war, and refused to play by their rules. When the Swarm dissolved, and when The Colony didn't come to his aid, Wink made Soldier Ant the commander of the Colony: XTREME Force, but he very quickly grew fed up with their behavior as well, and resigned from Chikara in disgust. From there, he went off the grid, to the point where Fire Ant & Green Ant could not find him. He resurfaced in 2014 at the side of Deucalion, where he was sicced on his own former Colony brethren, and departed with the rest of The Flood without speaking a word. His movements have seemed robotic, and proven resilient to all attacks. What was done to the militant mat mite is unclear, but it frightens people. (Trademark Moves: TKO, Saluting Headbutt)

      January Hype

      "A New Start"
      January 25, 2015 - 2:00PM bell time
      2300 Arena, Philadelphia, PA
      • For the Grand Championship of Chikara! - Icarus defends vs Chuck Taylor
For many years in Chikara, these two men were best friends. Stable-mates as part of F.I.S.T., they were part of Chikara's most dangerous trio. They started to move in different directions, however, in early 2013, with Icarus starting a long road to redemption, while Taylor remained solidly in rudo-hood. F.I.S.T. finally dissolved shortly before Chikara's hiatus at "Never Compromise," and Taylor was the first person Icarus approached for help in his grassroots campaign, but the Kentuckian instead urged him to move on. Now Icarus is the Grand Champion, and Taylor has acquired the three points required to challenge him for the title. Will the match be a sportsman's classic as two men who know each other so well try to find the momentum? Or will the "Kentucky Gentleman" bend or break the rules to try to get one over on the "Winged Ring Warrior?"
      • Six-Man Tag Team Explosion! - The Colony vs BDK & Soldier Ant
When Chikara returned from the ashes, one ant emerged on the side of the Flood-- Soldier Ant. Maimed and unwillingly abandoned by his Colony brethren, he showed little hesitation in attacking his former partners at the behest of the Flood's rulers. We finally got a good look at what had been done to him during the Cibernetico Royale at "Tomorrow Never Dies." The militant mat mite had undergone a strange transformation, acting in an almost robotic fashion and shrugging off any attempts at offense like a machine. Now Soldier Ant (or "Winter Soldier Ant" as some fans have taken to calling him) is under the command of Jakob Hammermeier, leader of the new BDK, and will team with him and Pinkie Sanchez to take on his former Colony brothers-- Fire Ant, Silver Ant, and Worker Ant. Will the ants get through to their wayward comrade and emerge victorious? Or will the mad-with-power Hammermeier order the cyborg soldier to destroy the Colony?
      • The Former Grand Champion vs The Former Kid Cyclone! - Eddie Kingston vs Kevin Condron
When the new graduating class of the Wrestle Factory debuted, one name was being touted as the best of the crop-- Kid Cyclone. Trained by Hallowicked and looking up to Icarus, Kid Cyclone was eager to prove his worthiness, and he decided to do it by targeting the Flood. But he was held back by his trainers and Chikara's patriarch, Mike Quackenbush, who felt that KC was not ready for that kind of conflict. KC drew followers-- the Greenhorn Militia-- and then it all came to a tragedy at "King of Trios 2014, Night 2." Jumping Deucalion and the Flood leadership, it appeared the GHM might make the Flood rulers look vulnerable-- but all that happened was they provoked a monster. Furious at their impudent attack, Deucalion executed KC's friends 3quinox and Create-a-Wrestler, and sent KC fleeing in horror. One of the men who had been present at the execution was the turncoat Eddie Kingston, who had reveled in the slaughter, declaring "We are nightmares!" Barely a day later, Kingston turned back to Chikara's cause out of an obsessive need to prove his worthiness to "Her," the Grand Championship of Chikara. Kingston wasn't trusted, even if his heart was in the right place, but one person saw only an "easy forgiveness," and at "Tomorrow Never Dies," Kid Cyclone attacked Kingston with a pipe wrench. Unmasking and going by his real name, Kevin Condron lambasted the fans and the locker room for perceived "injustices" that had been perpetrated, spitting on Chikara tradition, and swore to correct the wrongs that he saw in the world. Kingston has not apologized for the things he did, and laid the demises of the GHM at Condron's feet, and promises to hurt him for the attack in December. Kingston is also sitting on three points for Grand Championship title contention. Will the "Mad King" put another rookie in the ground? Or will the self-proclaimed "Kingslayer" foil his plans and keep him away from "Her" again?
      • The Ghoulish vs The Ghastly! - The Batiri vs Hallowicked & Frightmare
Two teams are looking to get in the Campeonatos hunt, and to do that, they need points. On one hand, the demonic warriors The Batiri, Obariyon & Kodama. Slathered in face paint and reveling in their vile actions, they nonetheless have become fan-favorites and are looking to re-establish their tenacity and perennial threat on the tag scene. On the other, the former members of the Spectral Envoy, formerly known as Incoherence, Hallowicked & Frightmare. Turned against his friend-turned-rival-turned-friend UltraMantis Black by the power of the Eye of Tyr, Hallowicked is now a new nemesis, a new "Nightmare Warrior." Frightmare, meanwhile, seems reluctant, or resistant to the Eye's effects, but not enough to resist the commands of Hallowicked, from whom his own power derives. Will the demons of Bled Island come out the winners? Or will the fearsome duo from Sleepy Hollow emerge victorious?
      • For All The Points! - Ophidian vs Nøkken
In order to challenge for the Grand Championship of Chikara, one must acquire three points in one-on-one competition. As it stands after "Tomorrow Never Dies," two men have two points to their name. On the one hand, there is the Norwegian nightmare, Nøkken, a monster that obeys the commands of the megalomaniacal Jakob Hammermeier. Few people have been able to stand up to the giant and knock him off his feet, making him a credible threat to the champion Icarus, whose defeat of Deucalion was helped by the fact that the Titan had little wrestling experience. On the other side of the match, there is Ophidian, the Serpent of the Nile, who is looking to transform and evolve once more to help both himself and Amasis reach new heights. Will the beast of the BDK emerge as a new contender to the title? Or will the venomous snake spirit slither his way toward the gold?
      • First Time Ever! - N_R_G vs Colony: Xtreme Force
Last year, two rookies from the Wrestle Factory debuted, and they evidently decided "let's be High Energy." Certainly "The Generator" Race Jaxon is up to the task. The excitable and chatter-happy Jaxon almost never stands still and has a very high opinion of his team's potential. In contrast, however, there is the more subdued Hype Rockwell, who after an energetic debut, has ended up being the sole driver for his team and sometimes even falls asleep on the turnbuckle during matches. On the other side of the match is a duo of duplicitous ants from the Colony: Xtreme Force. One half is at home in the frigid temperatures of the winter months, Arctic Rescue Ant, while his partner is the ballistic brute Missile Assault Ant, who has no off switch or any volume control. Missile Assault Ant is looking to get some momentum back after he failed to capture the Young Lions Cup trophy at "Tomorrow Never Dies." Will the CXF shout and scheme their way to victory? Or will Rockwell wake up in time to help his team pick up the win?
      • One on One! - UltraMantis Black vs Juan Francisco de Coronado
When the dust settled after "Tomorrow Never Dies," two men had been handed humiliating defeats. Juan Francisco de Coronado, the Ecuadorian Aristocracy, was soundly defeated by Ashley Remington, who once more showed that anything Coronado can do, the smooth-sailin' yacht enthusiast can do better. Meanwhile, UltraMantis Black had beaten his nemesis Delirious to banish him from Chikara, but before the madman departed, he used the mystical Eye of Tyr to turn Mantis' allies against him. Now the great and devious insect overlord is looking to regain his momentum and perhaps start a march toward title contention, but standing in his way is the arrogant Coronado, who will never go down easily. Will the Mayor of Parts Unknown come out victorious? Or will the Ecuadorian scheme his way to another win?

      January News
      * More events have been announced through June. Chikara has revealed that it will return to the Midwest with events in Chicago and Indianapolis.
      * Special Update from the BDK. On Dec 30, Jakob Hammermeier's BDK celebrated their team's Cibernetico win, and received a box from Delirious ("a deal's a deal," delivered by Daizee Haze, who turned down an offer to join the new BDK), which Jakob said contained "Power."
      * Blog by Jimmy Jacobs. On Dec 31, the Flood's field general wrote a blog on Chikara Pro's website in which he claimed credit for setting Deucalion up for his destruction at Icarus' hands, citing Deucalion's willingness to sacrifice anyone for his own benefit as reason for this supposed betrayal. Most fans take it to be revisionist history on Jacobs' part.
      * Blog by Eddie Kingston. On Jan 2, the War King wrote a blog decrying his having to wait in line behind Chuck Taylor to get "Her" back, revealing that he had been offered the choice to captain a team, but had turned it down, not being a team player. He blamed Kevin Condron for his friends' demises, and told him "you brought a wrench to a tank fight."
      * Blog by Sidney Bakabella. On Jan 7, the "King of Manager" wrote a blog crowing about his stable's successes in 2014-- including winning the King of Trios title, the Campeonatos de Parejas, and the Tag Gauntlet-- and challenged any five wrestlers to face the Wrecking Crew on January 25.
      * Blog by Ophidian. On Jan 9, the Serpent from the Nile wrote a blog talking about how the Osirian Portal seem to have stagnated, suggesting that change was in store for him and Amasis.
      * Promo by Chuck Taylor. On Jan 9's Event Center, the Kentucky Gentleman talked about all of the accolades he's won in Chikara, citing the Grand Championship as the only thing he has left to win, and stated he's better than Icarus.
      * Blog by Worker Ant. On Jan 13, the Colony's Black & Blue Bruiser wrote a blog analyzing the danger of Jakob Hammermeier's team, acknowledging Pinkie Sanchez's prior infiltration of the Colony (as Carpenter Ant), and wondering if there's anything left of the old Soldier Ant in the Terminator-like killer that showed up last season.
      * Blog by Kevin Condron. On Jan 15, the former Kid Cyclone swore to expose the rotten heart of Eddie Kingston, intimating that he will provoke an emotional response out of Kingston and possibly draw an "castigo excesivo" call to rob Kingston of his points.
      * Promo by Ophidian. On Jan 16's Event Center, the Serpent from the Nile followed up on his blog, calling upon the Deities of ancient Egypt and asking them to grant him the power to defeat Nøkken and challenge for the gold, but also expressed his doubts as to whether they are listening.
      * Blog by Icarus. On Jan 21, the Grand Champion of Chikara acknowledged his accomplishments and those of his challenger and frenemy Chuck Taylor, stating that Taylor could be worthy to hold the title, but also stating he'd do what he needs to in order to succeed.
      * Blog by Race Jaxon. On Jan 23, one-half of N_R_G proved he's just as excitable in text format as he is on camera, and said they'd get extreme against the Colony Xtreme Force.
      * Promo by Eddie Kingston. On Jan 23's Event Center, the War King gave no apologies for his part in the demise of the Greenhorn Militia and promised to put Kevin Condron in the ground for attacking him from behind.

        National Pro Wrestling Day

Once again, Chikara is hosting National Pro Wrestling Day. In 2013, it was a vehicle by which various independent wrestling companies could showcase talent and get their name out there. In 2014, it was scaled down, and while the finish was meant to establish that Chikara was returning from hiatus, it also served as a charity event to raise money for Against Malaria Foundation.

This year, once again the show is somewhat downsized-- having gone from the National Guard Armory in Philadelphia to the Palmer Center in Easton to the Greater Norristown PAL Gymnasium in Norristown-- and thus far all the talent announced are from the Chikara universe. It will also be helping to raise money for the Seva Foundation, which takes donations to pay for surgery to help disadvantaged persons with vision problems.

The Seva Foundation has a page set up to take donations pertaining to NPWD 2015.

          January - Results Update!

"A New Start" - 2300 Arena, Philadelphia, PA
          Jan. 25, 2015

Attendance was somewhere around 1200, a great turnout for Chikara.

          1. The Wrecking Crew def. The Throwbacks, Shynron, Jervis Cottonbelly & Kimber Lee after Blaster McMassive pinned Lee after a top-rope superplex.

          2. Nøkken def. Ophidian to acquire his third point toward Grand Championship contention.

          3. N_R_G def. Colony Xtreme Force's Arctic Rescue Ant & Missile Assault Ant.

          4. UltraMantis Black def. Juan Francisco de Coronado after the Praying Mantis Bomb. Coronado cut a promo before the match, but it couldn't be heard over the booing.

          5. BDK & Soldier Ant def. The Colony after Jakob Hammermeier taps Worker Ant. Soldier Ant apparently had a "moment" when face-to-face with Fire Ant.

          6. Kevin Condron def. Eddie Kingston via disqualification when Kingston hit him with a low-blow. The Snow Troll accompanied Condron and wore a new outfit.

          7. Hallowicked & Frightmare def. The Batiri with a superkick/Crucifix bomb combination. Wicked and Frightmare sported a new black-and-red-and-white look.

          8. Icarus def. Chuck Taylor with a belt shot and the Chikara Special to retain the Grand Championship. Chuckie T brought the old F.I.S.T. rudo tactics, and Icarus retaliated.

Apologies again about the lack of updates. No one seems to be paying much attention to this thread.

            February - Results Update!

"National Pro Wrestling Day 2015" - Greater Norristown PAL Gymnasium, Norristown, PA
            Feb. 8, 2015

            1. Juan Francisco de Coronado def. Fire Ant with a German Suplex after interference from Missile Assault Ant.

            2. The Osirian Portal def. The Bloc Party's Prakash Sabar & The Proletariat Boar of Moldova to earn their third point. Prior to the match, they had a "World's Sexiest Man" competition, contested under Azerbaijani rules out of deference to the absentee Mr. Azerbaijan. Sabar won the "best tongue" round, Amasis won the "best pose" round, and the "best dance" round ended in a draw after the Boar tripped up Amasis.

            3. Max Smashmaster def. Shynron after more interference from Missile Assault Ant.

            4. Ashley Remington def. Drew Gulak after a series of roll-ups and kick-outs.

            5. Old Fashioned def. Los Ice Creams after a dosie-do into stereo Russian leg sweeps. Post-match, all four performed Shakespeare.

            6. Blaster McMassive def. Mr. Touchdown via outside interference. Max Smashmaster tried to get involved, leading to Dasher Hatfield coming out to fight him. Things broke down into a brawl.

            7. Princess Kimberlee def. Jenny Rose

            8. N_R_G def. Flying Francis in what was called the sleeper hit of the show.

            9. The tecnicos won a 22-man tag-team match over the rudos.

              Challenge of the Immortals

Announced by Director of Fun Mike Quackenbush, the Challenge of the Immortals is a round-robin tournament featuring 10 four-person teams. Each team will face one another twice. One point is awarded for a win, no points for a loss. The team with the most points at the end of the tournament will win a "Golden Opportunity" for each member of the team. The Golden Opportunity may be cashed in for a championship match-- Grand Championship, Campeonatos de Parejas, or Young Lions Cup-- regardless of points total. All COTI matches will be contested outside the points systems, so no points are separately awarded for GC or CDP contendership.

Matches between teams may be singles, tag team, trios, or atomicos matches, as agreed upon by the respective captains, but the second match must be a different match than the first. (i.e., singles, then trios, or tag team, then atomicos, etc.)

A draft was held between the ten captains on Feb. 16th, with an additional 48-hour window for trades up to Feb. 18th. The only trades were Obariyon & Oleg the Usurper for Flex Rumblecrunch & Jaka.

              The Teams
              • The Wrecking Crew - Max Smashmaster (captain), Blaster McMassive, Flex Rumblecrunch, Jaka
              • Good News Bears - Dasher Hatfield (captain), Mr. Touchdown, Icarus, Heidi Lovelace
              • The Arcane Horde - UltraMantis Black (captain), Kodama, Obariyon, Oleg the Usurper
              • The Gentleman's Club - Chuck Taylor (captain), Drew Gulak, Orange Cassidy, The Swamp Monster
              • Nightmare Warriors - Hallowicked (captain), Frightmare, Silver Ant, Blind Rage
              • Bruderschaft des Kreuzes - Jakob Hammermeier (captain), Soldier Ant, Nøkken, Pinkie Sanchez
              • Battle Hive - Amasis (captain), Fire Ant, Worker Ant, Ashley Remington
              • The Snake Pit - Ophidian (captain), Eddie Kingston, Shynron, Argus
              • United Nations - Juan Francisco de Coronado (captain), Mr. Azerbaijan, Prakash Sabar, The Proletariat Boar of Moldova.
              • Crown & Court - Princess Kimberlee (captain), Jervis Cottonbelly, El Hijo del Ice Cream, Ice Cream Jr.

              Notes:
              * Dasher's team was originally dubbed "Dasher's Dugout," but a tweet from Hatfield suggested that he wanted to rename the team the "Good News Bears."
              * Kevin Condron had been expecting to be named captain of a team, but when he wasn't, he removed himself from the draft altogether. He wrote a letter to Mike Quackenbush, made public after he received no response, criticizing Quack choosing someone like Kimberlee (who lost in the YLC semi-finals last year) or Mantis (whose villainous machinations are arguably directly responsible for a lot of the problems Chikara's faced over the years) instead of him.

                CHIKARAtopia

Starting this year, Chikara is taking digital distribution of its shows in-house. DVD sales will still be made through Smart Mark Video, but digital downloads and streaming will be done through ChikaraPro.com. The new service, dubbed "CHIKARAtopia," is still being worked on, and the developers are working to make it compatible with Roku devices and video game consoles.

Fans can purchase individual matches or the entire events. Some segments of the show are listed as "event exclusives," and can only be acquired by purchasing the entire event. Likewise, fans can download the entire event as one big file or as individual files for individual matches/segments.

Chikara's entire back catalog is being re-digitized and ported over to CHIKARAtopia, and they are in the process of revamping the Roster page of the website to include individual pages for each competitor, with links to their social media, iTunes for their themes (where available), and a list of every show they appeared on, with links to the show in question in CHIKARAtopia.

                  March Events

                  Out on a Limb
                  March 7, 2015 - 7pm
The New Mid-Atlantic Sportatorium, Gibsonville, NC
                  • For the Campeonatos de Parejas! - The Devastation Corporation defends vs The Osirian Portal
Since their debut in 2012, the Devastation Corporation has been nigh-unstoppable. They've only gotten more dangerous since their association with The Flood last year. Winning the King of Trios tournament, and then capping off 2014 by winning the Campeonatos de Parejas, Max Smashmaster & Blaster McMassive are poised to rule over the tag team division with an iron fist, especially with Sidney Bakabella in their corner. The latest challengers to their dominance are the Osirian Portal, Amasis & Ophidian, who are looking to get back on the winning track. As of late, Ophidian, frustrated with recent losses, has expressed his doubts and faltering faith in the Egyptian Deities that they've long worshipped, suggesting change may be necessary. A win here would do well to restore his confidence and his faith. Will the Portal juke and jive their way to a win? Or will the Corporation devastate yet another pair of challengers?
                  • One on One! - Chuck Taylor vs Trevor Lee
Two good ol' Southern boys are about to duke it out. On the one side, the "Kentucky Gentleman" Chuck Taylor, a perennial threat on the Chikara scene, even after his failed attempt at unseating Icarus in January. Taylor is one of Chikara's most decorated wrestlers-- Young Lions Cup champion, Rey de Voladores King of the Flippy Little Boys winner, two-time Campeon de Parejas, and King of Trios winner. On the other side, the "Carolina Caveman" Trevor Lee, one of the independent scene's fastest rising stars. Despite his diminutive size, Lee has incredible striking ability and indomitable confidence, and has fast been turning heads with impressive showings throughout the indie circuit. Will Chuckie T put the young upstart down? Or will T. Lee add another big notch to his growing belt of big matches?
                  • Challenge of the Immortals Atomicos - The Arcane Horde vs United Nations
In January, the respective captains of these COTI squads collided, and on that day, UltraMantis Black emerged victorious despite Juan Francisco de Coronado's nefarious ways. Now both men have teams at their back. Lord Mantis has at his side The Batiri's Obariyon & Kodama, never a team to be overlooked, and the Wrecking Crew's Oleg the Usurper. Oleg's suffered troubles as of late, being blamed for the Wrecking Crew's losses and even getting benched mid-match by Sidney Bakabella. Oleg never lacks for confidence, however, and although he allegedly still takes orders from Bakabella, he could flourish under Mantis' guidance. Coronado, meanwhile, has the Bloc Party behind him, with the Ex-Pakistani Outlaw Prakash Sabar, mustachioed sex-symbol Mr. Azerbaijan and the warmongering Proletariat Boar of Moldova all eager to assert their dominance. Both teams will be looking to secure early momentum as the Challenge of the Immortals gets underway. Will Mantis' Arcane Horde scheme their way to victory? Or will Coronado's United Nations march on to a devious win?

                  Altar Egos
                  March 8, 2015 - 3pm
The Norfolk Masonic Temple, Norfolk, VA
                  • For the Grand Championship of Chikara! - Icarus defends vs Nøkken
Since becoming Grand Champion of Chikara, the "Winged Ring Warrior" Icarus has never faltered in his convictions, and has stood up for Chikara against all comers, leading the charge against The Flood last year, and vanquishing the engine of destruction Deucalion in December. He now comes up against possibly his first real threat to the Grand Championship, as he faces not an untrained beast, but a battle-tested warrior in the BDK's Norwegian Nightmare, Nøkken. With Jakob Hammermeier coaching him, Nøkken has power and cunning aplenty. Icarus is no stranger to facing down threats bigger than him, but this will truly challenge his championship reign. Will the champion keep his reign safe? Or will the power-hungry Bruderschaft claim another major trophy?
                  • Challenge of the Immortals Atomicos - Crown & Court vs The Wrecking Crew
Although her trials in Chikara have not always been victorious, Princess Kimberlee has a lot of heart and has not backed down in the face of a challenge. She drafted a trio of wrestlers whom she knows will treat her with the respect she deserves, including the "Sweet Man" Jervis Cottonbelly and the devious dairy delinquents Los Ice Creams. Their first challenge in the tournament will be a rough one, as they go up against the Wrecking Crew-- The Devastation Corporation & Jaka. Smashmaster, McMassive, and Rumblecrunch have not lost a trios match ever, and the savage Jaka shows no mercy to any fool that steps in the ring with him. Can the Crown & Court hold their heads and hands high? Or will the Wrecking Crew destroy another obstacle in their relentless domination?
                  • One on One - UltraMantis Black vs Volgar
Things are dark on the horizon for UltraMantis Black. Although he has defeated his nemesis Delirious, he now faces a new lurking threat in Hallowicked & Frightmare, their loyalties twisted by the warped Eye of Tyr, and now subservient to an enigmatic new master they call Naz Maldun, The Lord of Rot. Wicked has demanded Mantis cease all attempts at recruiting new followers, return Delirious to him, and face the judgment and punishment of Naz Maldun. Before that, however, Mantis has a different threat to deal with in the lingering disciple of Jimmy Jacobs, the brutal Volgar. Volgar was instrumental in leading The Flood's forces in 2014 and was unflinching in his devotion to the now-absentee Jacobs. Without Jacobs' guidance, Volgar could be easy prey for Lord Mantis, but the insectoid overlord must be wary of Hallowicked's shadow. Will Volgar crush Mantis like a bug? Or will the Great & Devious One emerge into the light with a win?
