The wound is still fresh having just been told a couple days ago.
My last remaining grandmother got diagnosed w/ COPD several months ago.
Since then she's been on the merry go round of can't breath, try to take meds, can't inhale enough to get it into lungs, still can't breath, panic, call ambulance and go to ER, oxygen levels get increased.
There's one ER that they particularly are intent to go to, and one they DO NOT want to go to. It's easily the worst hospital in the area.
Ambulance gets called, told where to take her, grandfather drives to the hospital she was supposed to be taken to... she's not there. He starts calling around and, for the sake of the story lets say the last name is Rossevelt, he gets the bad hospital on the phone and "We don't have a Rossevelt, but we do have a Ross." "What's her birth date?" MM/DD?YYYY" "That's her! That's my wife!"
He gets to the hospital and basically throws a tantrum. There were guards in the room in case he had to be escorted out, but it DID get the attention of a director. The director ordered more tests and they found blockages in her bronchial tubes.
They think it's cancer, but she's too frail for a biopsy.... which is to say she's too frail for chemo.
