  • what do you mean i can't use your phone??

I just got myself a new iphone and was leaving work for the day. My friend was picking me up so we could hang out. (It was the beginning of my vacation) but before i could reach my friend's car this is what happened: K= SPL=Sucky Phone Lady

K:Yeah im heading out right now. damn straight. i am on vacation breh, (talking on phone)

SPL: Oh, an iphone. could i use it for a second? I need to call my hubby and let him know im gonna be late

K: Uhh no sorry. I don't let anyone use my phone but me.

SPL: Im not gonna steal it. I just want to make one phone call. its local and basically its free.

K: uh no sorry. Im not letting anyone use my phone.

SPL is getting hot right about now. her face begins to contort into catbutt mode.

SPL: You guys aren't supposed to say no. You have to say yes to eveything. so why can't i use your phone?

I sigh and tell her yet again even slower because it seems as if she just cannot grasp the context of the word No.

My friend gets out of the car sensing a problem and being as he can be an ass comes up to me and asks if he can use my phone just to be a jerk.

SPL: NO! YOU CANNOT USE HER PHONE!! I TRIED AND SHE'S BEING A BITCH SO YOU CAN'T USE IT!

K: *grins* Here ya go Steve. you can use my phone. im sorry im a "bitch" steve

SPL: *sputters gets wide eyed, catbutt face still there* FUCK YOU!

K: *grinning* No thankyou. your not my type and im happily married. have a lovely day.

I turn and leave the woman sputtering there. If i knew her i'd let her use my phone but being as i didn''t know her at all there was no way i was going to let her use my expensive phone. I know im going to get a call from my super or boss concerning the way i handled the situation. (in their eyes i handled it wrong) being as No is a filthy word to say to a customer.

Where does it say in your contract that you are obliged to let perfect strangers use your personal property whenever they feel like it?

Ditto. And if it were company property, would they still take the same attitude if you agreed to let someone use your phone and they took off with it?

Not to mention when you are off the clock!

You handled it just fine in my eyes, I would've probably handled it the same way. I love how she was like "Oh, an iphone." It made me think she wasn't going to ask to use the phone unless it was one of those "trendy" things. (No offense to people who like Apple, there are just a lot of other people who only purchase Apple because it's the 'cool' thing to do right now.)

Your boss cant really dictate how you handle asshats on your own time (as long as you keep it legal and noninjuring ). Make sure he understands that. But really, I wouldnt have let her use my phone either.

I had an sc ask last weekend if she could use my phone. The phone that was in my pocket, of course she didn't know that. I told her I didn't have one. I won't even let my roommate hold my phone. (Plus, she has an iPhone of her own.)

That's exactly what I was thinking.

Sorry boss, but I don't hand over expensive personal items to total strangers that call me a bitch. I also felt uncomfortable with the situation. I hope you're not suggesting that my safety isn't important?

                  Yup, this, absolutely.

As for the SC herself, if she'd told me I "had to say yes to everything," I'd have laughed in her face.

Dafuq? I would never, ever let a stranger even near any expensive/electronic device of mine. What planet do these people come from?!

Sure, you can use it so a stranger now has my phone number.

The nerve. I would've been all "You're reaction and name-calling has given me confirmation that I was correct in NOT letting you use my phone."

The first thing out of her mouth had me hearing, "Danger, Will Robinson, Danger!" in my head.

The fact that she noted the type of phone before anything else just screams shenanigans. There's no chance in hell I'd let anyone like that anywhere near my expensive tech gadget.

                              Netbook

First, tons of people out there are fumble-fingers. Hand them the phone and the next thing you know they drop it onto hard concrete or down a sewer-grate. Not good.

Second, some people are phone hogs. My mom was dumb enough to lend our cell phone to some relatives. They were only suppose to use it to call us when they were finish shopping at the mall, 1-2 minutes tops. There were over 400 minutes of air-time on the phone, when we got it back there was just over a 100 minutes left. They called London, England from Miami, Florida while they were shopping.

Third, a few people are just thieves. If the SC had just ran off with the Iphone how could the OP id her to get his phone back?

The more a person demand something as if it is their right, the more likely they don't care about taking care of your stuff.

                              - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Since my net-book goes almost everywhere I do, I often end up in schools where self-important teenagers and rarely their parents try bugging me to let them play with my machine.

I had to make it clear that anyone asking that if it is not a good time (with me available to monitor them) the answer is no! It is no to the point that I make it clear I WILL BREAK THEIR FINGERS is they play with my machine.

Think I am extreme? Consider, what charges will be raised against me for injury of someone using my hardware when I clearly told the no! Plenty of-course.

Now consider the charges that could be bought against me if my computer starts displaying kiddie-porn while in the school's main office or in-front of a class. We are now talking about sex-offender tag for the rest of my life. No thanks, I rather have assault on my record - it will be gone from the public record in ten years.

Don't think it can happen, I already had to deal with that situation, only the porn was showing up on the school library's computers. And yes, we were able to trace which kids did it.
