Default Ipod advice?

We're finally dragging my dad into semimodern tech, albeit kicking and screaming enough to make a 2 year old proud.

Mom bought dad a 32gig 5th generation Ipod touch, gave it to me and said "here figure this out and make it idiot proof for your father, then wrap it and bring it down for christmas"

I'm now considering getting one myself I had to much fun figuring it out and "talking" with Siri.

Anyway my question is more along the lines of dad has a BAD habit of leaving things in his pockets and either jumping into the pool (lost 2 cell phones that way), or washing things (umpteen million times washed his wallet/money).

The guy at the apple store suggested the otterbox, but i mentioned the pool incidents, and he suggested something else, but not only have I forgotten it, I'm asking advice for what you guys suggest.

Outside of a bulky case, I don't know how to prevent Whoopsie-Doodle-Destruction incidents like those.

I'm wondering if they suggested the "lifebox" this is for a 4g-I just did a quick search, you may find them cheaper or for the 5g(not sure how different they are really)

No offense, but who in their right mind would pay that much for a friggin' case!? For that much, it'd better work the iPhone/pod for me.

for a $400 piece of equipment that mom and I are both afraid, once the pool opens this summer, dad will try swimming with it. We have a new child in the fold this year, dad's first grandchild as well as wanting to film the amazing diving leroy (borther's dog).

I have a feeling that it would be put to good use...but your right, I'll price hunt with my whole salers, and see if I can't find it cheaper.

Hope the authorities don't find out that your dad is involved in money laundering.
