Yes, the return show on May 25th marks the return of their running actual wrestling events again.

Chikara events aren't available on their website, but through Smart Mark Video. Many shows are available via DVD, download in MP4 format, or streaming on-demand on SMVOD.
Is this like the thing I saw on the WikiPedia entry about them going to some television station (Neon Alley)?

Neon Alley is a separate deal they have. SMV carries all of Chikara's shows, but now Chikara also has some of its shows being shown on Neon Alley.

SMV seems reasonably priced, too. I might have to check out some of their events through SMV. Is this something I could watch on my computer? How long are the events? I looked at Aniversario: Never Compromise and saw that it had 8 matches. I'm guessing thats what? An hour and a half? Two hours? If that's the case, that's not bad for $10.

How much do their iPPVs usually cost, and could I watch them after the fact?

Do you know if DirecTV carries Neon Alley, or are they some special, regional (or cable-only) channel?

Actually, the shows run about two-and-a-half to three hours or so. Most Chikara shows have about that much in-ring action. In addition to the matches, the DVD/MP4/VOD will include pre-taped promos from the wrestlers about their matches, and sometimes include extras that run after the end of the show. These extras usually just include video clips from Chikara's YouTube channel that were hype videos for the show in question, or other things.

iPPVs are usually about $15, and yes, you can watch them after the fact. Maybe not immediately after the show airs (since the iPPVs are usually live), but within a day or so, the show will be available for on-demand streaming.

I can't speak for Neon Alley or what providers carry it.

          Further Updates!

The June show locations have been revealed. "Diamonds Are Forever" on June 21 will be at the Logan Square Auditorium in Chicago, Illinois. "Goldfinger" on June 22 will be at the Majestic Theater in Detroit, Michigan.

Eyes are still on Wrestling Is Fun, as the seeming only survivor of the "Wrestling Is Ragnarok," as earlier today they held a show that had some "Ragnarok" references thrown around in the lead-up to it. (Feb 22, 2014 is allegedly the date of Ragnarok, for one thing.) It was supposed that the "Flood" (as many fans have taken to calling the 'Ghosts of Rudos Past' super-group) might try to attack the show.

In the aftermath of the main event, Sidney Bakabella's Wrecking Crew tried to attack, but the tecnicos came out and held them at bay, giving the good guys another victory.

More interesting is the fact that the Tag World Grand Prix-- normally a Chikara event-- has been announced for Wrestling Is Fun's April 5th show in Easton, PA. Presumably, this tournament will crown WIF's first tag champions.

No matches yet announced for "You Only Live Twice." Chicago Sold Out .... or Is It?!

Chikara's June 21st show, "Diamonds Are Forever," in Chicago, IL sold out quite quickly. There's been such high demand for tickets that Chikara has decided to run a second show in Chicago that day. Tickets are now on sale for "Quantum of Solace," to take place at 1pm earlier in the day.

In addition, Chikara is doing an "Expansion Pack" pre-show in Chicago before "Diamonds Are Forever," at 5pm.

The July shows' locations have been announced as being in Manhattan, NY and Boston, MA. Venue information is still forthcoming.

No matches have yet been announced for any upcoming shows.

                Chikara's Return... on iPPV!

After a poll was done on the Chikara 101 Forums, Chikara Pro has officially announced that "You Only Live Twice," Chikara's first show after the nigh-yearlong hiatus of 2013, will be broadcast live on iPPV. The event will be streamed through SMVOD.com. The official price is $16.99, but they are offering a preorder special, in which you can get the iPPV for $12.99 as well as a free copy of the new Chikara e-book.

For reference: the image above shows many (but not all) members of the rudo super-group (unofficially dubbed "The Flood"), grouped together. From left to right:
The Odditorium (Kizarny Sinn Bodhi, Qefka the Quiet, Oliver Grimsley), Colony XTREME Force (Arctic Rescue Ant, Orbit Adventure Ant, DeviANT), The BDK (Nøkken, Ares), Dr. Cube's Posse (Haack, Slaash, Dr. Cube), GEKIDO (17, Jigsaw, The Shard), The Wrecking Crew (Oleg the Usurper, JAKA, Blaster McMassive), the "plague doctors" (Jimmy Jacobs, two unknowns)

The "plague doctors" are being called that because their sub-group's name hasn't been revealed. Likewise, the identities of the two unknowns also haven't been revealed. They were last seen at National Pro Wrestling Day, leading the Flood into the Palmer Center.

It's interesting to note that DeviANT, normally a member of GEKIDO, is pictured with the CXF, although he was appointed to lead the CXF after Soldier Ant went off the grid. More interesting is that Jigsaw is pictured with GEKIDO, despite having no real allegiance to them. Jigsaw is tag-team partners with The Shard, as the Pieces of Hate, and they were the last team to hold the Chikara Campeonatos de Parejas.

                Tag World Grand Prix 2014

Wrestling Is Fun announced they would be hosting the Tag World Grand Prix this year, an event normally under the auspices of Chikara. It's assumed that the winners will be crowned WIF's first tag-team champions. (Possibly with pears as the 'trophy fruits,' a la the banana held by WIF's singles champion, or 'top banana.') The event will be spread across three separate shows, with the finals to be held in Easton on May 24th, the day before Chikara's return show. Only Block A's matches have been established, as all of Block B's participants haven't been revealed yet.

                Block A
                • Spectral Envoy vs Devastation Corporation (Hallowicked & Frightmare vs Max Smashmaster & Blaster McMassive)
                • Heart Throbs vs 3.0 (Antonio Thomas & Romeo Roselli vs Shane Matthews & Scott Parker)
                • Osirian Portal vs Colony XTREME Force (Amasis & Ophidian vs Missile Assault Ant & Arctic Rescue Ant)
                • The Batiri vs Old Fashioned (Obariyon & Kodama vs Jervis Cottonbelly & Marion Fontaine)

                Block B
                • The Baltic Seige (Estonian Thunderfrog & Lithuanian Snow Troll)
                • Los Ice Creams (El Hijo del Ice Cream & Ice Cream Jr.)
                • Knight Eye for the Pirate Guy (Sir Lance Steel & Jolly Roger)
                • The Bloc Party (Mr. Azerbaijan & The Proletariat Boar of Moldova)
                • The Throwbacks (Dasher Hatfield & Mr. Touchdown)

More Events Announced -- Quebec Gets Chikara!

Chikara continues to announce more shows lined up for later this year. Following their July trips to the Northeast, Chikara will make a return to the Great White North, visiting the province of Quebec in August. The shows "Permis De Teur" (License To Kill) and "Vivre et Laisser Mourir" (Live and Let Die) come to Limoilou and Montreal, respectively, on August 16 and 17.

Furthermore, Wrestling Is Fun's remaining Tag World Grand Prix shows are now on ChikaraPro.com's Events page as well, further cementing WIF's ties to Chikara, to anyone that wasn't convinced already.

May 24-25 weekend continues to grow as a major weekend for indie wrestling fans. In addition to Night 3 of the TWGP on May 24 in Easton, and Chikara's return on May 25, two more non-wrestling events have been announced for May 24. At 12pm at Town & Country Lanes in Bethlehem, PA, Chikara & the Make-A-Wish Foundation present "LuchaBowl!", a charity event where fans can bowl with and against their favorite Chikara stars.

Later that day, at 4:30pm by the Palmer Center in Easton, PA, they're hosting a "Chikara Potluck Cookout Thing!" Yup, an outdoors potluck cookout. All that's required to get in is a dish for the potluck. Again, fans can eat and chat with their favorite Chikara stars. The event will end just in time for Night 3 of the 2014 Tag World Grand Prix.

                  Tag World Grand Prix 2014

Night 1 of the TWGP took place on April 5th, and at present, all of Block B's participants still have not been announced, which leaves fans guessing who will step up to fill the roles. In Night 1's opening round, the Devastation Corporation's Max Smashmaster & Blaster McMassive defeated the Spectral Envoy's Hallowicked & Frightmare, The Batiri's Obariyon & Kodama defeated Old Fashioned's Jervis Cottonbelly & Marion Fontaine, 3.0's Scott Parker & Shane Matthews defeated the Heart Throbs' Romeo Roselli & Antonio Thomas, and the Osirian Portal's Amasis & Ophidian defeated the Colony XTREME Force's Arctic Rescue Ant & Missile Assault Ant.

In the quarterfinals, Devastation Corporation defeated the Batiri, and 3.0 defeated the Osirian Portal, setting up Dev Corp vs 3.0 for the semifinals, come Night 3.

                  Block A
                  • Semifinals - Devastation Corporation vs 3.0 (Max Smashmaster & Blaster McMassive vs Shane Matthews & Scott Parker)

                  Block B
                  • The Throwbacks vs Haack n Slaash (Dasher Hatfield & Mr. Touchdown vs Dr. Cube's henchmen Haack & Slaash)

More Events Announced -- Virginia and North Carolina!

Last week, Chikara Pro announced that, following their trip to Quebec in July, they will be making stops in North Carolina and Virginia. I was seriously hoping that the Virginia stop would be somewhat close to Northern Virginia-- Manassas or similar, for example-- but city will be Richmond, while the NC stop will be in Gibsonville. Dates and venue information have not been announced yet.

                    Tag World Grand Prix 2014

Night 2 of the TWGP took place on May 3rd. In Night 2's opening round, the Wrecking Crew's JAKA & Oleg The Usurper defeated the Baltic Seige's Lithuanian Snow Troll & Estonian Thunderfrog, KE4TPG's Jolly Roger & Lance Steel defeated the Bloc Party's Proletariat Boar of Moldova & Mr. Azerbaijan, Team Benchmark's Bill Daly & Will Ferrara defeated Los Ice Creams' El Hijo del Ice Cream & Ice Cream Jr., and The Throwbacks' Dasher Hatfield & Mr. Touchdown defeated Haack n Slaash, despite interference from "The Flood," the rudo super-group.

In the quarterfinals, KE4TPG defeated the Wrecking Crew, and the Throwbacks defeated Team Benchmark.

It's also worth noting that KE4TPG were accompanied by "Princess" Kimber Lee, who had Chikara Pro's Campeonatos de Parejas belts in her possession. This is the first time they've been seen since "Never Compromise" last year, and after WMDCorp/Titor supposedly auctioned them off.

Have you been following the "Wrestling Is..." 24/7 Championship Title? A group of wrestlers 'sanctioned' this belt and many of the title matches are posted in short Instagram videos. As in, 10-15 seconds short.

                      Here's the link.

It's like the DDT 24/7 Iron Man title... but so far no inanimate objects have won.

                      Yet.

The 24/7 Championship is the brainchild of Chuck Taylor-- hence why the clips of the defenses are all hosted on his Instagram, and why Chuckie T always seems to get the title back.

It's by no means an "official" championship, it's just something they're clearly doing for fun.

That said, I would love for the title to somehow be defended during an actual match at one of these shows.

Two matches have been confirmed for "You Only Live Twice," Chikara's return show on May 25th.

The first is a six-man tag match between The Batiri -- Obariyon, Kodama, & Kobald -- and Sinn Bodhi's Odditorium -- Sinn Bodhi, Oliver Grimsley, & Qefka the Quiet. The Batiri were trained by Bodhi on behalf of UltraMantis Black, who intended to use them as his "Dark Army" against the threat of the BDK. However, when Mantis reneged on payment to Bodhi (he'd promised Bodhi the Eye of Tyr, which he no longer possessed), "Kizarny" took the Batiri for himself. The two later parted ways, and Bodhi seemingly left Chikara at the end of 2011, when Mantis gave him a false Eye of Tyr.

Bodhi's Odditorium was active in the Wrestling Is companies during the hiatus, and Bodhi shut down Wrestling Is Art by purchasing the company from its head honcho. Of interest to fans was the Batiri's happiness that "Daddy's back!" (in the words of Kobald), but Bodhi has completely ignored them since. The Odditorium are members of the rudo super-group colloquially known as "The Flood" and were last seen at National Pro Wrestling Day.

The second match is a 4 Corner Elimination Tag Team Match, a staple of Chikara action. Four teams start in the match, and eliminations come via pinfall or submission. Chikara's tag-team "points" system is always in play in these matches, and with three points needed to challenge for the Campeonatos de Parejas, it is possible for one team to rack up all the points needed in one match. (And, indeed, it has been done before.) With the Campeonatos recently resurfacing in the possession of Knight Eye for the Pirate Guy (Jolly Roger & Lance Steel), even if they aren't recognized as the "official" champions, the belts are back in the world. (The last official championship reign belongs to the Pieces of Hate, Jigsaw & The Shard.)

As yet, no teams have been announced for the 4 Corner Tag Match.

                            Details On Upcoming Shows!

                            NC & VA
More details have been announced on the upcoming North Carolina and Virginia shows. "Thunderball" will hail from the New Mid-Atlantic Sportatorium in Gibsonville, NC, and "Moonraker" will come from Grand Ballroom C in the Greater Richmond Convention Center in Richmond, VA. Dates have yet to be announced.

                            Eastern PA's Wrestling Weekend

As noted previously, eastern Pennsylvania will have a weekend of wrestling action and get-togethers available for wrestling fans. Starting on May 24 at 12 noon in Bethlehem at the Town & Country Lanes with "Luchabowl!", a charity event between Chikara Pro and the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Later that afternoon at 4:30pm in Easton, fans are invited to the "Chikara Potluck Cookout Thing!" at the picnic grove next to the Palmer Center to bring food for the potluck and hang out with the wrestlers and other fans. Immediately after the Cookout Thing at 6:30pm, everyone will move into the Palmer Center for Wrestling Is Fun's "Tag World Grand Prix 2014, Night 3," featuring the semifinals and finals of the TWGP tournament.

The next day, on May 25th at 1pm, the SOLD OUT "Easton's Expansion Pack" kicks off with all of its activities and fan interaction events. Then at 2pm, the doors open for Chikara's return show, "You Only Live Twice," which starts at 3pm and will be broadcast live on iPPV through Smart Mark Video On Demand.

                            Announced Matches

The main event for "You Only Live Twice" has been confirmed, as Chikara Grand Champion Eddie Kingston defends vs Icarus. Icarus has called out Kingston for his refusal to fight for Chikara's return, citing his being the Grand Champion as the reason why Kingston should have done so, that as champion he was the face of the company. Icarus feels that Kingston isn't worthy to be champion, and hopes to finish what they started at "Aniversario: Never Compromise."

The first team of four has been confirmed for the 4-Corner Elimination Tag Match at "You Only Live Twice." Former Campeones de Parejas 3.0 (Shane Matthews & Scott Parker) lost the titles at "Aniversario: Never Compromise" to the Pieces of Hate, and helped fight off the 'Flood' heel super-group at National Pro Wrestling Day 2014 when they literally turned up in the nick of time with Archibald Peck in the DeLorean. 3.0 are always looking to make it back to the "Promised Land" of championship gold, and are fan favorites for their exuberant style.

Just announced on Chikara Pro's facebook-- Jimmy Jacobs vs Archibald Peck. Jacobs was revealed at NPWD to be the leader (or at least field commander) for the 'Flood' super-faction, and in a recent Chikara Event Center, suggested that there was someone (or something) worse than him that had chosen him to be the Flood's leader. Archibald Peck, as noted above, returned at NPWD to help fight off the Flood, after spending untold time in Parts Unknown (in his Woodshed of Solitude) researching the conspiracies surrounding Chikara, and may or may not know secrets due to his travels through time.

                              MORE MATCHES ANNOUNCED!

More matches are being confirmed for Chikara's return show.

Another team has been revealed for the 4-Corner Elimination Tag Match. Joining 3.0 in the match is GEKIDO, represented by 17 & DeviANT. The wrathful GEKIDO group came into Chikara on the Titor Conglomerate's payroll to break down its stalwart defenders and subvert it from within, as DeviANT worked on the Colony, and later was appointed the commander of the Colony XTREME Force, another Titor-paid group. The enigmatic 17, meanwhile, had one goal in mind-- crippling everyone he faced. He'd started by breaking Mike Quackenbush's wrist, then snapped legs and ankles belonging to Tianlong and Dragonfly, and most recently broke the necks of Darkness Crabtree and Private Eye Jr. GEKIDO's presence in the 4-Corner Elimination Tag Match is an ominous one.

The match-up between Jimmy Jacobs vs Archibald Peck has been dubbed "Clash of the Titans," which is an interesting thing. During "The Ashes of Chikara," one of the notes on Peck's conspiracy board in his Woodshed of Solitude read "Who is the Titan of Titor?" Jacobs has freely admitted to being "chosen" to lead 'The Flood,' so he could be the "Titan of Titor." However, there has been rampant speculation that there is still another Peck out there, a doppelganger, working against Chikara, or that Peck isn't as benevolent as he might seem.

Finally, a trios match has been announced, The Spectral Envoy vs Bruderschaft Des Kreuzes. The Envoy will obviously be UltraMantis Black, Hallowicked, and Frightmare, but the BDK's members aren't as clear. It's true that when the BDK shut down Wrestling Is Respect last winter, there were three men present-- Ares, Norwegian nixie Nøkken, and WIR's head honcho, Milo Schnitzel-- but Ares has suggested that the BDK is much larger than that. Time will tell if the BDK will be represented by the WIR chapter.

                                RUDO RESURRECTION!

Back at King of Trios 2009, Chikara Pro revealed that they would be making a video game-- Rudo Resurrection-- with a little-known company called Rogue Brains. The fans were agog and could not wait for the game's release. All that we were told was that it would be a side-scrolling beat-em-up game.

Then nothing came of it. Updates on Rogue Brains' blog about the game stopped coming. Fans unhappily accepted that the game would never come to be.

Then, following the reveal of Chikara's return in February, Chikara revealed a new partnership with a company called Rotary Games, which was resurrecting the Rudo Resurrection project. Rotary has promised a lot more transparency about the development of the game.

Now, Rotary Games has launched a Kickstarter for the game.

The game's premise remains more or less unchanged. The great and devious UltraMantis Black uses his knowledge of the dark arts to create a cloning project to clone some of Chikara's fallen warriors as his dark army. Chikara's heroes must fight their way through the hordes to stop the evil plan.

Thus far, all that's been revealed is that the initial three heroes available are The Colony-- Fire Ant, Green Ant, AssailANT-- and two of the enemy types-- Create-a-Ghoul and Crossbones. (Create-a-Ghoul is clearly based upon Create-A-Wrestler, while Crossbones is explicitly Crossbones, Mantis' loyal right hand man.)
