Until silica-nanowire batteries are mass-market available (5 years hopefully) then you can FORGET about electric vehicles, they just don't have the range to compete. (Silica-nanowire batteries were just developed, they have about 8x the storage capacity of air-lithium)

Not that electric vehicles are any more eco-friendly. What everyone forgets is that the electricity has to be generated somewhere... and the coal-fired plant is no better than your car engine. (and don't get me started about nuclear power...)

Just need to work more on geo-thermal and more efficient solar cells.
