  • A funny one from the thrift store

I was called in to cover for the owner for a couple of hours today. Not long before I left, an English couple came in, browsed a bit, then left without buying anything. As they were leaving, I said, "Goodbye. Happy Halloween."

The man turned to me and said, "Happy? For Halloween?"

    "Scary Halloween?" I said.

He smiled. "That's better. Thank you very much!"

    And they left.

Well, it is a celebration of the harvest, a happy time. I don't get people. It's like they just need to argue about something.
"Is it hot in here to you? It's very warm, isn't it?"--Nero, probably

No, he wasn't arguing. He just had this quizzical look on his face, probably thinking of the strangeness of wishing someone a happy Halloween. Maybe, like me, he enjoys being scared.

I told my mother today when we were out grocery shopping at Wal-Mart today that if they really wanted to scare people for Halloween, they'd videotape Wal-Mart. One of the dept. managers heard me and laughed, then said "So true."
Customers should always be served . . . to the nearest great white.
