  • Here now get out!

    Here is a SC story from my days at WM:

    First some background in Canada we get taxed on every non food item we buy both from our federal and provincial governments. Everywhere in the country you get taxed GST (federal) and each province sets it's own PST rate, my province has no PST.

    Ok, on to the SC:

    SCC = Sucky Cheap Customer
    CSG = Customer Service Girl
    AM = Assistant Manager

    I was on my way to get the returns from the returns desk when I saw this happening:

    SCC: I bought [item] in [next province over] and want my money back
    CSG: Ok, do you have it with you
    SCC: No I want a refund on the PST
    CSG: I am sorry sir but I cannot do that

    * Converstion carries on for some time, a manager gets called *

    AM: How can I help
    SCC: I WANT A REFUND ON MY PST
    AM: I am sorry sir but I cannot do that

    * Conerstion continues, SC is yelling by now *

    AM: Can I see your receipt sir
    SCC: YEA *hands over receipt*
    AM: *Looks over receipt, eyes bug out*
    AM: Are you telling me sir that we have been here arguing for 20 minutes over $0.22
    SCC: yes I live in [my province] and should not have to pay PST
    AM: *Pulls out wallet, slams quarter on the counter*
    AM: There you go sir now keep the change and get out of my store!
    ME:

    To make this more interesting I had been in that same province the week before and spent well over $100 at WM on games that I had been unable to find in my city, meaning I had spent over $7 on PST as a resident in a province that has none, I think that guy would have had a heart attack.

    Did he take the quarter?

    When he's a customer, my husband does that to other customers holding up the line over a few cents. While it's very effective at getting them out of the way, most of them are too embarassed to take the quarter.
    The best karma is letting a jerk bash himself senseless on the wall of your polite indifference.

    The stupid is strong with this one.

      Wow, what a numpty. If he doesn't want to pay PST he shouldn't shop in other provinces.
