I saw the 3 D version of the Journey to the Mysterious Island today. It's a continuation from Journey to the Center of the Earth. They swap out Brandon Fraisier for Dwayne Johnson (The Rock).
It was a fun movie. I thought it was better than the first one. As a modern retelling of Verne's story, they're faithful to the setting. They use the novels as a base for the character's actions and decision making, and for the island settings which just rocked.
It is one of the few movies I've seen in 3D that I thought was worth the price.
The scenes with the Nautilus are worth the price of admission by themselves.
The acting isn't the best in the world, and Luis Guzman is pretty goofy. But I did enjoy watching the Pecs of Love in action Michael Caine saves the movie as far as the acting goes.
But it was still a fun ride. They left room for another sequel. If they make it, I'll go see it.
