I can't watch movies on my computer lately and i always used to be able to. I put a movie (any movie) in and the dvd drive doesn't even recognize that anything's there. It just tells me to insert a disc. I have an Emachine with a cd/dvd rom and when i pop in my Sims CD it reads it just fine....but not movies for some reason. I'm thinking i need to update the driver but i can't find the download anywhere....at least not for free. Any suggestions?

Okay, DVDs and CDs use different lasers to read the data. Two possibilities for you here: The lens is dirty, and blocking the DVD laser. Two: The drive is toast, and needs to be replaced.
Get a lens cleaner, and try it out. If that fails, replace the DVD drive. You can get nice, and new, for cheap (like $50 will get you a pretty spiffy drive).
