The residential speed limit is supposed to be 30 or so, slower during school hours due to the large concentration of elementary schools in town. In practice, it's a fair bit higher.
Earlier tonight, I almost got hit by some yahoo. Strike one: dark vehicle, using its blinkers/hazard lights in lieu of headlights. Strike two: speeding. Strike three: it was a hybrid (no offense to hybrid owners in general). I didn't hear the car coming, luckily I did see movement so stayed on the curb. Strike four: you guessed it, going the wrong way.
