  • How do you get that drunk?!?

    From the University of Michigan

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=05eopGJoOQI

"Excessive partying" that lead to $75,000 (maybe more) in damages to multiple Resorts. Ceilings, doors, walls, floors, and furniture all destroyed.

No one mentioned it, but the poor staff must have been terrified. The police were called to escort the Frat boys out of the building. I can not imagine what the other guests (the ones scared hiding in their rooms) had to go through.

    Just beyond imagine to me.
I might be crazy, but I'm not Insane.

What? You don't play with flamethrowers on the weekends? You are strange.

I would say unbelievable, but if frats were involved I can believe it.

I do hope the University makes sure these individuals pay damages and the fraternity national organizations take serious action against these chapters.

Reminds me of a somewhat related story. It's 8am on a weekday. There's a wreck. Driver of the car that rear-ended another is crawling around on his hands and knees picking up business cards that are all over the road. He's coming close to being hit and I walk over to get him off the road (I'm trying to direct traffic until the cops show up). The smell of alcohol almost bowls me over. I look in his car and the back seat may have a bottle of Jack Daniels on it, but it's almost buried under beer cans and bottles!

Cops show up, look at the scene, take a whiff and look at each other. We get the cars and Mr. Loaded into a nearby parking lot, they asked me to stick around to give them some information for the report. Cops try to do a field sobriety test but can't as they guy can barely stand. They do a breathalyzer - he blows something like a 0.28 and it's barely 8am!

Never had to go to court so never heard what happened. Somehow I doubt it was good though...

All involved deserve hefty fines and lenghty prison time. This isn't being drunk, this is criminal.

Drunk/excessive partying would be damaging the carpet/bedding by puking/pissing yourself/shitting yourself. Can't see YouTube videos, but I agree with VS.

Un-freaking believable. I would have had them all arrested instead of just escorted out

            Instant asshole: just add alcohol.

I get the feeling these guys were belligerent jerks to begin with, and the alcohol just made it worse. I really hope the ones responsible have to pay for all the damage.

Two questions that our ex- and current hotel workers like KHirashy and Moraie might be able to answer:

              1) Given the level of damage and the fact that these rooms can't be rented until they're fixed, can the hotel charge the frats with loss of revenue?
              2) I guessing a _lot_ of other rooms had to be comped plus a lot of freebies. Can the frats be held accountable for that as well?

This is not going to make the Greek System look good...

In this post, KhirasHY's hotel charged the parents of one extremely unruly child for both damages and the comped rooms, so yes, I'd think they could charge the frats for both, as long as Corporate doesn't cave.

I've never had a situation that warranted seeing this in practice. IANAL but I would consider the loss of revenue, both from rooms being down and other guest rooms needing comped, as being part of the damages. Considering this is peak season for ski resorts, they definitely need to go after them for loss of revenue for the down-time. Having to refund the guests who were there and likely needing to cancel future guest stays due to the rooms being uninhabitable should be enough documentation to take that fight to court.

This is good. Collecting, OTOH, could be quite a challenge. One would hope the National Board would make good on this, then go after the individual chapter for restitution...

That would be NORMAL Drunk/excessive partying damage. Here are Pics ABC acquired.

The idiots Literally tore up the carpets. Down to the bare floor.

It will take days/weeks to repair all the damage. I am certain the resort will press criminal charges.

                        Tore up the carpets?!

Why?! To prevent staff seeing puke?!

I agree this nonsense crossed the line to deliberate destruction.

A kid around here died from alcohol poisoning. His blood came up .493.

I didn't even think it was possible to drink enough at one go to get that kind of alcohol level, but apparently he did. RIP.

Amateurs. There are people around here who never let their BAC get below that number at all times.

                              Not really exaggerating here either.
