  • All I said was "Hello"

This isn’t a new thing, this actually happened to me about 12 months ago but I forgot about it until today.

About 12 months ago (pretty much to the day) I was working down at our store in another town on a temporary basis, because they had fired the vast majority of their staff (stealing) I needed the extra money and I am what this company calls a “store champion” (which sounds grander than it is. It basically means I am one of the few people who can work in every department of the store. Sales, Business sales, tech, security, admin, etc)

I was sent down there to do my “store champion” thing but when they found out that I am great on clinic and am good at getting the high-value services in, they put me on there with their techs, which made me happy.

On occasions, I was asked to do other crap, but since the Stafford store gets like, 4 customers an hour, I could climb on top of the repair jobs within like, an hour, set all the automated stuff going, do a few of the manual-labour-type jobs at the same time (fit memory, change hard drives etc) then I was free all day to do the while-you-wait crap…which never came in.

One of the days, I was asked to cover “meet and greet” for 5 minutes while the girl doing it went to the toilet. No problem. Jordo could handle tech, and if he needed help then I would be right next to tech.

Jordo was leaning on the tech desk, just chatting to me and I hear the doors open so I turn to see this woman coming in and I say my usual which is either “Hiya, How you doing?” “Hiya, how’re you?” or “Hiya, do you need any help?” she just totally ignored me and walked straight past. It’s not unusual for the meet & greet person to get totally ignored by a customer, but that doesn’t mean it pisses me off any less.

So, 10 minutes later, I’m back in the clinic, sitting back in one of the chairs and keeping my eye on all the windows installations that are running when I hear a set of keys hit the desk. This, again is normal when you have your back to the desk. It’s just customers showing how arrogant they are because they can’t be bothered to wait 10 seconds for me to turn around. I look and it’s bitch who ignored me

Me: *gets up* Hi. Can I help?
    Bitch: How dare you
    Me: excuse me?
Bitch: you should be watching the desk, not watching those computers
Me: Ma’am I have to keep my eye on them incase they do something they shouldn’t. I need to respond quickly to things such as fire, which can happen
    Bitch: Why?
Me: would you like it if I just left your computer to burn? Or how about I leave one burning, the building catches fire and you burn to death? Would you prefer any of those outcomes? (that never happens, but what the hell, I don’t like her)
Bitch: and as for you when I came in. I do not appreciate someone approaching me the second I come in. the next time I shall just walk out. How good will that make you feel?
Me: I said “Hello” to you as you walked in the door and I’ll bet a pound to a penny you’d complain if no one spoke to you when you walked in. is there anything TECHNICAL you would like me to do for you otherwise please find a sales advisor
Bitch: I don’t like your company
Me: *Mutters to self as she walks away* then fuck off out my store
I honest to god have spent the best part of 12 months trying to work out what exactly her problem was

How would it make me feel? It would make my day lady. The woman's a mean-ass, rude, snotty, self-important, idiotic, bitch, that's her problem.

Well I hope you learned your lesson. Being a polite human being... how dare you?

Oh well, just think that if there weren't any bitches left in the world, the sweet people wouldn't be as charming anymore. Although it doesn't hurt to see one of those hags spontaneously combust since the ratio of bitch/non-bitch is absurd and we're all for equality you know...

What a bitch. I love how people think they know how to do your job better than you do. I had to greet people at my old job when they came in the shop, and some of them didn't bother to give me the time of day. One guy actually backed out holding his hands up in surrender as if I was going to pounce on him and shove shoes down his throat.

I don't mind greeters. I do get annoyed that I go to a counter and the person has the back turned. I don't know if I should bother to cough or say "excuse me" because really, when I do that, people turn around and look annoyed at me.

But yeah, that woman had some carbon tubing up her ath.
Time! Time! Time is what turns kittens into cats.

Don't teach me a lesson; all I learn is that you are an asshole.

Try telling that to Circuit City. When I worked for Firedog, we had a tech bench that was a big straight line with two sides. The front was the counter with a reception area, tech computer (work orders), and a register. The back had our special work area with anti-static bracelets and tools and everything hanging from the pegboards. Sometimes we would get so swamped we'd all be feverishly working on the computers, with our backs turned, and then customers would be upset.

Sorry customers, that I'm trying to do the job you brought your computer in for me to do.

I love those type of "damned if/damned not" situations. Really I do. Customers like that are never happy. Ever. and decide to take it out on everyone they can

I work in a supermarket bakery. The ovens are against the the back wall. If I have to put something in or take it out or check timers, etc, my back will be turned. All to often I will have my back turned for few seconds when some SC will walk up to the counter. Usually the SC's will go "Helllloooooooooooo Hellllllloooooooooooo." If you wait 5 seconds I will turn around and see you. The bigger the asshole you are the longer the process will take.

Of course! Its the Sucky Customer tax! The wait is longer when people suck.
