I would however advise *not* buying advance-purchase train tickets, because they are valid on only one specific train - so if your flight is delayed or you spend more time in baggage and customs than you expect, you may miss the train and then you will forfeit that ticket.

There is an Airport advance ticket available from most UK airports (to and from) conditions are almost the same as advance tickets but there is an extra allowance for air travellers if their flight is delayed they can travel up to three hours after their booked train or the next available service if there is a bigger gap as long as they can confirm the delay with the railway ticket office.
