  • That was a scary moment o_O

So I was taking a quick nap, when I awoke. I COULDN'T open my eyes though, I couldn't even move a inch no matter how hard I tried, and was going in and out of dreams but was awake at the same time.

I'm ok now though XD just that was really weird, anyone know why that could happen??

Sounds like sleep paralysis. It happens to me from time to time as well, and I also find it quite scary.

I don't recall what causes it, but I'm sure someone else will chime in.

True reason not known, but the best explanation is during REM sleep the brain inhibits movement so what is happening in the dream doesn't get replicated by the body. Sleep Paralysis is where you wake up with this still in effect,

I've had that happen. Freaky, but not dangerous

Department Stores had a thread on the same topic a couple weeks back: http://www.customerssuck.com/board/s...ead.php?t=8115

              Me too!

This has also happened to me, but only when I have an afternoon nap, but not every time I have one. It's definitely freaky. I never knew there was a name for it til now. CS is so educational

damn it it happened just a moment ago again. I even heard sounds this time, like a wooshing sound. I knew I was paralis, but at first I thought just wait a second, then I just felt this over whelmng fear, I don't know from what, but I swear it was like a freaking ghost was doiing something to me. I'm sleeeping with the light on.

The feeling of fear and hearing/seeing things is normal too. It's because your still in somewhat of a sleep state that your actually dreaming while semi-awake. It's happened to me before, a couple of weeks ago most recently, I could have sword there was sombody standng right near my head but I couldn't turn to look at who it was, real freaky stuff.

When it happens to me, I just get this feeling like I am falling. Sometimes I wake up slightly panicked, but other times I wake up and I am in the most relaxed state I have ever experienced. When the good ones are over I am so disappointed because I could stay like that for hours.
The only words you said that I understood were "His", "Phone" and "Ya'll". The other 2 paragraphs worth was about as intelligible as a drunken Teletubby barkin' come on's at a Hooter's waitress.

I get that too, I think. Sometimes I yell out and then I'm awake after that. It happened a few weeks ago and I was surprised my dad didn't come checking up on me...
