Heh, movie theaters here in the US seem to enforce rules very arbitrarily. When I was 15 a friend and I went to see wishmaster, an R rated film. The friend's mom drove us but we even bought own tickets with no questions asked. Now at the time I looked young most people would guess me at about 12, My friend looked about the right age.
Flash forward to the same theater four years later. I am 19 and and my younger sister is 15 now. It is her birthday and she and three of her friends want to see Hanable also R rated. The ticket person IDs me and says I can take my sister in but not her friends. In order for me to take them in each of their parents have to be there to purchase the tickets for them. And yet later when my sister went alone for another R rated film the ticket person never asked her anything.
