I stayed at very nice hotels in DC where there was no parking but a parking garage not owned by the hotel that charged or you could take the subway from a free lot that your car might not be in the next day , in New Orleans where you paid nightly for the privilege of having your car valeted two building over at some outrageous price (we took taxis) and in LA near LAX where you had to reserve and pay for your spot in advance. Each time I figured out some way not to be a jerk, by not having a car or paying for the convience of having a car. Easy.

Quoth bhskittykatt View PostI didn't realize it was our job to warn people to follow the basic road rules on their drive. But it's apparently my job, so don't speed kiddos!
Glad I'm not one of those.

Quoth Nunavut Pants View PostI was once charged in a Federal court for breaking the California Vehicle Code--speeding on a federal/no-longer-military base. (They dropped the charge; the base rent-a-cops suddenly decided that going anywhere from 0-5 MPH over the limit meant you were almost double the limit, and there were ~25 of us in court at the same time.)
Sounds like someone in Manglement decided they weren't producing enough revenue.

We've had someone parking in the loading zone for the last few days (our breezeway is wide enough this little Asian thing isn't blocking traffic). Yesterday I put a printed note under the windshield wipers basically saying "you're violating fire code, park properly or we're calling the cops" (in more businessy language). We'll see if she listens or not."I try to be curious about everything, even things that don't interest me." -Alex Trebek

Quoth WishfulSpirit View PostEDIT: Bossman says next time just call the police on the non-emergency number and have them ticket the car. Let's see Sucktomer argue with the Boys in Blue. I'm sure someone will try, but if said someone does, cops can escort them off our property. At the conclusion of an Irish wedding, the priest said "Everybody please hug the person who has made your life worth living. The bartender was nearly crushed to death.

Quoth wheeitsmee View PostI also remember when an idiot left his daughter's wedding cake (the wedding was the next day) in the car overnight. As anyone could have warned him (and all the paperwork he accepted when he entered the park told him), a bear broke into the car and ate the cake. He threatened to sue the Hotel/Concessionaire. The front desk person called an NPS LEO Ranger. The Ranger told him that he could try to sue the Hotel/concessionaire, but then the Park service would have to charge him for feeding the wildlife (Federal crime, remember?).When you start at zero, everything's progress.

Maybe they could get the "no placard" ticket thrown out, but they'd still have to go to local court to do so (and for guests staying only a few nights that could cut into their plans, or more likely mean they ended up flying back). It's still enough of a pain in the backside to discourage future infractions.Last edited by WishfulSpirit; 03-21-2016, 01:16 AM."I try to be curious about everything, even things that don't interest me." -Alex Trebek
