    Yup, in my area, most of the businesses, except Walmart, Gamestop, etc, have signs that says, "No bills bigger than $20." There is some fudging if the bill comes to say $90, but usually, it's just easier to get the $20s from the bank.
    If I make no sense, I apologize. I'm constantly interrupted by an actual toddler.

      Odds are sending them directly to the Fed would be the only way to exchange them.

      I think I know my job and what I have been told at my job, regardless of what is said on a federal website etc. I know what WE CAN'T DO! We have no way to accept them, trust me.

      Put your hackles down. The US Mint's web site said you didn't have to accept them, so it agrees with what your bank is doing.

      $500 and $1000 bills are still legal money, even if you can't use them anywhere. And probably worth more to collectors than their face value.
