we didn't get Gary Coleman, they made a few jokes in the play that were modified for local audiences at the end of the show, but other than that the show that was here... last year? was pretty much the same, I tried so hard not to sing along with the songs, but I found myself singing quietly to the internet is for porn by accident.
If I dropped everybody who occasionally said something stupid from my list of potential partners, I wouldn’t even be able to masturbate

Saw it last night. Absolutely. Amazing.

The cast were really polished and the show went off without a hitch aside from one point where there was feedback from someones mic.

The puppets were Adelaide-made and they looked very much identical to the Broadway puppets, except that Rods hair was all over the place and Princetons face was a LOT longer. I was surprised at how much detail went into them as well...the Lucy puppet had nipples -.- The only other difference was that Princeton and Kate were double-rod puppets instead of single rod puppets (as it sounds, single rod means that only ONE arm moves all the time, double rod means that you can control both hands) but I found this was an improvement.

Gary Coleman was played by a woman, although she wasn't exactly what you'd call "Black". They changed the line about Polish jokes to irish jokes instead but most of her dialogue was kept intact. She SOUNDED like Gary though, a huge improvement.

There were a few minor chorus additions, with Lucy having some "Slutettes" (who didnt sing apart from "For Now") and there were some male characters who joined in on "The Internet is For Porn".

Only minor gripe was Kates puppeteer had a very saccharine voice when she sung and Rods puppeteer kept losing his speaking voice when he was singing (so he'd be nasal for every other scene, but during his solo songs, he'd revert back to his natural voice).

I lol'd during the scene where Christmas Eve gets married. I know that in the show, shes meant to have this horribly tacky dress, this had it in spades. It was a hoop skirt with little disco balls hanging off it and when you turned the lights off, her dress lit up.

There was a very sweet moment at the end of the show, where a civil celebrant performed a little commitment ceremony for Rod and Ricky to celebrate the fact that NY allowed gays to be married. The guy who was playing Rod was REALLY good and hammed it up, especially during the ring-changing part, where the rings wouldnt fit onto the puppets fingers and Rod called it "water puppet retention or something like that"

Oh and I know that the dialogue in The Money Song differs depending on where its performed, but apparaently either this was a joke on the casts part or someone actually did put a ticket stub to The Crazy Horse in the hat. (adelaide strip club )
