I bet those polar bears are pissed
We've had a heat wave here too--several days of 90F-plus, high humidity...and even the rain doesn't bring much relief. Having hot water pour on you from above really sucks!Aerodynamics are for people who can't build engines. --Enzo Ferrari

How the heck is it hotter up there than it is down here?
Seriously, last year at Pennsic, it was Bizarro World. It was hotter in the western Pennsylvania than it was in central South Carolina in late July. And at Pennsic, it was actually hotter in the dark, shady Swamp (where I camp) than it was on the Serenghetti (which is a flat, treeless, sunscorched plain)
The hell? It's not even 120 here right now. It's only 98 (with a heat index of 104). Which is hot, but not out of line.

All I can say is this: gigantic water bottle, filled 2/3 and frozen overnight. Carry it with you all day to drink/douse yourself with. At 120, you'll dry off quickly. Why, yes, I did grow up in the desert."Is it hot in here to you? It's very warm, isn't it?"--Nero, probably

Um, not to be the Debbie Downer here, but TWC lists Ottawa's high as 95 F today, with a heat index of 105 F. Still ridiculously hot....although cooler than here. We've had highs around 100F for the past few weeks with no end in sight. This heat probably won't completely break until September."Even arms dealers need groceries." ~ Ziva David, NCIS

.. and people always said it's too hot in south Florida. At least we get a nice seabreeze miles inland.
It gets hot then we get afternoon showers and it cools it down to the mid 80's for a little bit.Quote Dalesys:

I live in Pennsylvania & it's always around this time of year that it acts like it wants to be part of the south...lol. Today it got to 100 degrees & tomorrow it's gonna be 101!! Scorching hot weather.
It's like being in Florida. All this high heat is gonna make the winter feel that much colder.

It's nice to know I'm not suffering alone today is 105 with a heat index of 115. I've been hiding in the house in my too-short-for-public shorts and my not-small-enough tank top. I'm still dying. I'm starting to contemplate just wearing a bikini aroundAnswers: $1

When I lived in WA, we used to get lovely fluffy clouds on those very hot days (40+ C), the wind would sweep through like a storm was coming. There was thunder, lighting and the scent of rain... but everything was still dry. The rain was evaporating before it hit the ground!Don't tempt pixies, it never ends well.

Yeesh. I was born near the equator, and even I can't stand this outdoor-oven. Good thing today I had my parents' air-conditioned ride to work, my own car's a/c is broke.
But speaking of which, our building's a/c broke down today
Maintenance claimed a mechanical issue, but we think they're just being cheapskates. Our work has to be manned 24/7, and they refuse to turn on a/c during evenings and weekends. I feel sorry for the folks who don't have my natural Varia suit upgrade.Happiness is the exercise of vital powers along lines of excellence in a life affording you scope.
