Your in-forum search engine seems to be missing a lot of stuff now. I'm working on an archive of some of our famous residents, and Gravekeeper only has 4 pages--last time I searched he had 17.

Overheads on the server, I'm afraid. Search results had to be reduced to displaying the one hundred latest results. Apologies for that, but we got too big for our RAM.

I was looking over the same thing. I totally understand the issue with server space and needing to limit it, but maybe a way to accommodate it would be to include different search parameters? Right now the farthest back you can start from is one year, does it inflict the same usage issues if you have it search from two, three, etc. years?

Sorry I'm not a techie, I just like reading the stories on the forum and if there's a way to reach deep into the beforetimes without creating issues it could be nice to see!

Another thought: If someone is searching for something they know is old, they have to search EVERYTHING from a date before the thread up until the present. Any way of throwing in a search range, with both a start and end date for the search? The end date could be pre-populated with a default value of "until the present", but if someone knows the post was at least 4 years ago, there's no point wasting resources searching posts made in the last 4 years.

As for the previous reply, would it be possible to have the search start date be a triplet of drag-downs (year, month, date) rather than the single drag-down with preselected values (yesterday, a week ago, a month ago, etc.)?

I keep meaning to upgrade the forum software. At some point, when I'm happy with what VB are presenting and I can get off my furry arse, I may do just that.

Got a Vbulletin (had their logo, but not the CS "skin") database error when I tried to search a few minutes ago. Looking for a post I made a few days ago - keyword "shiny", user "wolfie", posts in the past week. When I hit "back" and tried searching again, I got the normal "searching too soon" page, but when the time expired, my search took me right back to the error page.
