The ancient Romans were very fond of penises. Little amulets of flying phalloi were very popular as good-luck charms, for instance. Plus the "herm" statues that were placed at intervals next to Roman roads were very often just a block with a head sculpted on top and a penis in the middle.
Not to mention penis decorations were used on bread ovens. Probably sympathetic magic to help the bread to rise.

“There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old’s life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged.
One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world.
The other, of course, involves orcs." -- John Rogers
