The client doesn't want to pay the new pay rate this round. He wants it to start the next round of these he sends us. So company is deciding whether to give us the promised raise or give us our usual rate. That's about $130 difference.

Yeah they paid me my usual rate after telling me I was getting a $5 per 400 word raise this project. I'm not happy.

Wait - even if it's a verbal that still sounds like a commitment from the employer that should have been honored.

At my work, we have a rate system based on the job youre doing, sometimes if theres a junior guy called in for the position above me, i get paid the higher rate.

When my boss tells me im getting a different rate, i have him print out the pay sheet that shows our names and what position were being paid. It also requires he sign it and leave it with us.

i might suggest something similar to your boss "Oh $5 more? Can i get that in writing please?"

I do have it in writing, in an email.
